Title: use of Wireless Connection Between Controller and radio
Post by: na6t on 2012-09-27, 09:37:13
is it possible to use a wireless connection (2.4ghz wifi radios) to make the connection between the radio and
the controller?
Thanks,
Bob

Yes, it's quite common to do that. But the built in WiFi can not be used to connect direct to each other (ad-hoc) there must be a Accesspoint in between.

I wouldn't be using the built in wifi.  I was going to use the wifi connection from a mountain top to my location at the base of the mountain approximately 2.0 miles from point to point.  (see below)

Base Station pc control -->remote controller --->Tranzeo 2.4hgz wifi radio-->

   <--Tranzeo 2.4ghz wifi radio<--remote controller<---mtn top radio system

I've very familar with wifi at 2.4ghz and would be using tranzeo flat panel radios for the point to point connection with fixed IP addressing on both ends.

any problems with this?
Thanks,

thanks for the reply  mike,

I thought it would work, but I wanted to be sure.  I've also got a pair of Ubuquiti Bullet HP version radios and a couple of 24dbi parabolic antennas.  I might just use these instead of the Tranzeo radios.

see ya in the pileups,,
