Title: DynDNS
Post by: DL5FAB on 2010-04-05, 14:32:04
Hi,

I have tried to use the DynDNS Client in the Controller configured as follows:

DynDNS Check Interval: 10
DynDNS Host Name: www.dyndns.com
IP check Host Name: checkip.dyndns.com:8245/ (to bypass proxies)
Own Host Name: xxx.dynxxx.net
Username: as registered in DynDNS
Password: as registered in DynDNS

The DynDNS Client appears not to work or is for whatever reason not reaching DynDNS.

DynDNS works fine for all my other domains and it works for the domain with the Controller when I activate the DynDNS Client on the Router instead of the Controller connecting via UMTS to the Internet. I can check the up-dates being performed on the Host-Lists of DynDNS, which appear as soon as UMTS assigns a new dynamic IP adress.

What could go wrong here?

Hi

"DynDNS host name" should always be members.dyndns.or

Qouting DynDNS website"

"All requests should be sent to members.dyndns.org. Hard coding the IP address is not acceptable as the IP address may change."

Will try this out but would need to apply for a new domain name which is presently member.dynalias.net

I just received an 5-day expiration notice from DynDNS, so apparently my remote is not renewing. Here is a copy of my remote settings:

DynDNS settings
DynDNS check interval   60
Own host name   va7xxx.xxx.net as registered
Username   as registered
Password   as registered

I have nothing to change on this screen to correct any problem. My remote is at a DMZ location on the lan.

I just signed into DynDNS and my username/password and DNS/IP address are all correct with them.

Tnx, Alan VA7AWM

Hi

Not much can go wrong. If the DynDNS settings are ok the only other thing that can be wrong is if you have not set the DNS address ok at the IP-settings. With the latest firmware you can see the DynDNS status on the status page.
