Title: firmware 2.21 - unstable?
Post by: hb9edm on 2010-10-17, 14:11:26
Hello everyone,

Since I installed the 2.21 firmware the connection between the two remoterig seems more unstable.
Problems renewing ip via dyndns, disconnection during transmission, problem to see the webpage...

Is it me or others have noticed these problems?

I have noticed that the web page was not available a couple of times,
although a connect from the remote side was still possible. It required
a power restart to fix.

Once a dyndns update also crashed the box and required a power restart.
There are apparently some minor stability issues with this version.

Same behaviour regarding the web page

We are investigating what could be the cause of this behaviour seen by some of you. So far we haven't been able to reproduce such a behaviour in a way that we are able to debug it. So please keep providing us with as much information as possible in order to help us fix this.

Regarding the inaccessible web pages; Do you see a difference in how it behaves in the radio end compared to the control end?

Hi Marco
Running same firmware, but with fix ip address, not the minor problem there, runs very stable, together with two webswitches, last 300m over WLAN.

Saw that you are using heil-mike, tried also on ts-480 via remote rig, but sound was crippled, probably ground connection problem etc. Any good hint for the heil?

Hi Jan,

I don't have a reason to access the web page too often, so therefore
it is difficult to pinpoint when this problem occurs. If no one else can
help, the I can start accessing on a regular basis to try to figure out
when the problem occurs.

Jan,

I have tried to access the web page the last two days, and each time it was not reachable.
The remote RRC has always connected without a problem, so this is specifically something
in the web server itself that was changed in 2.21.

I thought it was related to dyndns, so I forced a new IP number, but that was not the problem
after all. I am not sure how I can figure out what is causing this problem. There is always the
possibility that it may still be a dyndns problem that does not occur every time.

Hello,

I have also some problem with 2.21 and 2.2 :
- with my 2 transceiver (ic910H & ts480sat) i lost the audio connection for very short time (1-2s),
- ptt is some time locked (~2s) and I need to push again the ptt to stop transmission.

With 2.15 a have also some lost of audio connection but it's  rare.

For me the better version was 2.1 but it's impossible to download it again  :-\

I made some test while receiving, the ping test don't show anything : always 2ms. Now i'm using 2.15  but audio connectivity is not as good as 2.1

I haven't had a problem at all with audio, or any other functionality
with RemoteRig for that matter.

My stability issue is purely related to accessing the HTML page to
make configuration changes.

I am not sure here which versions you are referring to when you write 2.1 and 2.2? Both 2.1 and 2.2 are rather old versions, much older than 2.15, so it's vital for us to know if such a old version as 2.1's audio connectivity is better than the much newer 2.15, which in turn is not as good as 2.21.

I have the problem with version 2.21 & 2.20, with 2.15 is better (I miss audio 1-2 time every day), the better was 2.10.

I think that if you loose audio one or two times a day using ADSL it's very good. When you loose audio, try to ping your Internet router when the audio is still gone and check if the connection is up. I think the differences over time can be caused by many other things than the firmware versions. I have 3 km ADSL line to my summer house and in bad weather I can loose connection several times per hour. And then I loose connection with router, cameras webswitches and everything, it's always back after about 15-20 secs.

I also loose access to the radio side RRC web console time to time.
A reboot is needed in order to get it back
SIp connection is ok

I'm using two configurations with 3 set of RCC :
- two set are connected via a Wlan
- one set via a gigabit network

The problem is the same with the 3 sets.

Today I install 2.25 firmware it's the same (2-3 stop every hour). I use a software to control the ping delay in the Wlan : average is 2ms, 5ms max.

Hi

If you loose the connection so often try one simple thing.

Change Eth-type to "Auto" in all boxes NOT "Auto, preefer 10FDX"

I'm using auto for all sets. I miss an over problem, if i use the ptt switch for long time (15s) the trx stay often on tx. I need to push again the ptt to go back to rx...
The problem is the same with 2.25 so I'll return to 2.15.
If it's possible I would like to have 2.10 again to download.

You are using "Auto" and still have network related problems? Which speed does the switches/hubs/routers you have the RRCs connected to? 10 Mbit, 100 Mbit or even faster?

Hi

I have put back 2.10 on the firmware page. I have also tested to back from 2.25 and it's no problem.

So let's see what's happen if you back

Thank you  :)
Now i'm back with 2.10 :
- no more ptt blocked,
- I still have sip connection loose but now it's very short (less than 0.5 second, before it was 1-2 second), and not so often.
