Title: How to change MAC adr of RRC
Post by: oz1rh on 2017-10-18, 17:00:05
Hello,

I am in a hotel in San Francisco for Pacificon and want the change the MAC address of my remote RRC to match the one in my pc. However MAC adr is greyed out in the Microbit Setup Manager Setup info. Any way to change the MAC address of the RRC?

My idea is to logon the hotel wifi from the pc and then move its Ethernet cable from the pc to the RRC hoping that the hotel wifi will keep that MAC adr logged on. After that I plan not use the pc before next logon.

If that does not work I will do the usual trick with Internet Connection Sharing on the pc.

it's not possible, the MAC adress is unique based on a vendor id and the serial number

Address Prefix

Vendor Name

00:1e:fd Microbit 2.0 Ab

Tnx Mike, but I know that the MAC adr of the network card in a pc can be changed by some hacker software. Seems I should look for that if I want to test my idea. Later today I move to Marriot San Ramon where I can experience what what tricks is needed to use their wifi.

Control RRC should have a built in browser so it can be used to login to a free wifi.
