Post by: 4Z4OQ on 2011-02-08, 16:16:27
Hi

I am totally new with remote and got the RRC last month visiting USA. I am also not big expert on computers but have some help from my IT co-work. I connected the equimpnet to the web and the USB cable to my laptop computer. Win7-32bit
When starting to install the new F/W i can see the green bar moving and then get a "failed programming new firmware: write failed" messge.

Please help

From which version do you upgrade? How long does the green bar move before "write failed"?

v1.8 of the RRC? Can't be that old  ;)

And about the bar: You mean that it stops far from its rightmost position?

Can't say what could be the cause of that behaviour. I will look into it tomorrow at work. Meanwhile if you would like to upgrade now you could configure the RRC's network using the Setup Manager and then upgrade via its built in web server.

I have complied a new version(1.9) of the Setup Manager, which might give an error code when this occurs, which in its turn might help understanding what happens.

This is how it looked when I forced it to fail:(the version info says 1.8 still, changed that after):

You can find a new installation here: http://www.remoterig.com/downloads/MicrobitSetupManager_v1.9_2011-02-09.zip (http://www.remoterig.com/downloads/MicrobitSetupManager_v1.9_2011-02-09.zip), and also the program's exe file here: http://www.remoterig.com/downloads/MicrobitSetupManagerEXEv1.9.zip (http://www.remoterig.com/downloads/MicrobitSetupManagerEXEv1.9.zip).

Hope you are able to test it and report back since we are unable to get such errors ourselves  :)

OK, error code 31 turns out to be "A device attached to the system is not functioning.", which seems to be a generic Windows' error message. Why you get it is still unknown. Do you have access to another computer, preferably not a laptop?

Glad that you feel it was "good" talking to me, hehe! I prefer writing English and so I don't get much practice in talking and therefore don't do that as good as I would like to  ;)

I have started a new topic on this matter:

I you are able to help out then it would be great!  ;D
