Title: RC-2000
Post by: ea3in on 2011-03-19, 10:01:08
Hello,

I am looking for a RC-2000 unit to use it with my TS-2000
Any idea about where to buy it inside the EU?

Anyone has a used one to sell it?

Regards

Marcel

Marcel,

I know that Difona had a couple in stock recently, you can check with them:

http://difona.de/index.php

I would send a mail, since this may not be a listed item on their web page.

Thanks Mitch

I have contacted Difona via email. It seems that they don't sell anymore.

Same in two more suppliers

Might be Kenwood is not supplying it anymore?

Too bad, Marcel, since I know they had two in stock a couple of months ago.

Kenwood still sells them, but probably the volume is too low for some dealers
or countries to carry them. In that case, your best bet is to buy from the U.S.
from any major dealer, such as HRO:

I purchased a Kenwood TM-D700 used and front panel works with TS-2000 as long as serial number is a 212-xxxxx or greater. Earlier versions require firmware update of front panel. I find it cheaper to get a used TM-D700 than buy the RC-2000 by itself.

Did you mean the serial number of the TS-2000 needs to be above 212-XXXXX, or the serial number of the TM-D700?

I have so far not found a used TM-D700 with a serial number nearly that high, they have been in the 110 range.

I saw another thread asking if the TM-D710 was compatible to the TS-2000, but didn't see a reply. Anyone know?

The Serial Nr. of my TMD700(e) is 509000** and the display unit does not work on my TS2000......

The TS2000 only turns on and off until I switch off the power supply.

Thanks for the information, Nils.

Unfortunately, this doesn't correlate well with the information about S/N 212-XXXXX and above
being compatible, now I am even more curious what works and what doesn't. What is also
strange is your S/N is much higher than two used ones that I have found, both in the 110XXXX
range. I wonder what the difference is?

Maybe I should ask on another forum for the TS-2000 instead.

The TM-D700 radio came out in 3 revisions.
The last one was G2.0 as far as i can remember.
The G2.0 front panel will work with the TS-2000 radio.
G2.0 is marked in the radio close to the serial number.

That is good information, Trond. I wonder what serial number series the G2.0 has?

Since the two I found are both 110 and Nils' 509 does not work, this doesn't correlate
with the information from KP4TR that 212 works. This is of course assuming that 509 is
newer than 212.

Today I could look at the TS2000!

The Serial is 703000** with Firmware 1.08 and the TMD700 is the G2.0 version.....
