Title: Input codec level with line level input (Flex 3000) - RRC-Radio
Post by: KB8CR on 2020-03-01, 19:31:09
I am interfacing the RRC1258 to my Flex 3000. The AF output from the radio is line level, not amplified.  The RRC manual says that the radio side should always be at "0". Is it ok to increase the input codec gain to accept the low level AF coming out of the radio? Is there a suggested level?

Thanks,

Hi
The speaker input impedance is 50 ohm a line level output may expect 10K, so you probably have to remove the big 100R resistors from the speaker input to make it work. There is only 4 big 100R resistors so they are easy to find. You can use anyr codec settings, you cannot damage anything, the only risk is to get distorsion.

Might be easier to just put a small audio amp on the output of the Flex.

I know that the Flex 6300 etc headphone jack gives enough power, but I don't know about the 3000

I would think the 3000's headphone jack's output would be similar. Might try that first.
