Title: RRC-1258 web interface connection problem
Post by: UX0LL on 2011-07-20, 19:43:34
Hi dear Colleagues!
Will be appreciated for any advice how to fix this problem:
My remote Radio RRC works great during 7 mothns without any issues at all.
Last week I've lost the connection to this box. Site survey shown that the issue is with RRC.No connection via Web interface and every 20sec or so rebooting. USB is workin but unable to try firmware rewnewal due to rebooting process. Than Set default settings procedure via USB using Setup Manager v1.10 helps to upload new firmware v.2.41 to the RRC. But Web interface is still unaccessible. Green LED on Ethernet port is alwayz ON even without LAN cable connected.

Seems that problem happen with web interface inside RRC. Is there any experience how to fix this issue?
Thanks!

Alexander,

I am not sure if you have a bad problem somewhere, but make sure that the internal
IP number was not changed by the router's DHCP server to something else. That happens
from time to time if you have a power outage or similar, and didn't bind the MAC address
in the router to a fixed internal IP number. Use the Setup Manager to call up the IP number
to make sure.

Hi Mitch,

Thanks for your reply!

Actually I've checked IP settings as well. There are some investigation pasted:
Net Info from Control RRC

MAC       : 00:50:c2:11:91:8f
IP address: 192.168.1.227
Netmask   : 255.255.255.0
Gateway   : 192.168.1.1
DNS       : 192.168.1.1

Net Info from Radio RRC:

MAC       : 00:50:c2:11:91:f2
IP address: 192.168.1.228
Netmask   : 255.255.255.0
Gateway   : 192.168.1.1
DNS       : 192.168.0.1

I see that DNS on Radio RRC changed somehow to 192.168.0.1 instead of 192.168.1.1

Strange that Ethernet port Green LED is always ON.
Seems that port is not workin properly.

Is it green even if there is no ethernet cable connected? If so, then that is indeed
strange. If there is a cable connected, then that is how it should be (assuming the
cable is plugged into a switch).

Right, when cable unplugged.

Is there any options to check it - HW or SW bug? If HW - what component to replace?

In the case of a hardware problem, I will default back to RemoteRig support in Sweden.

You may wish to do a full hardware reset. Save your config file first and reload
afterward. It is a long shot, but maybe this will help.

No problem, Alex.

On the back of the RRC is a reset button, see the manual, page 17.

Mitch,

Tryed few times without results. Can I connect via telnet to check Ethernet port live or dead?

Alex,

Use the Setup Manager to change the RRC back to DHCP, then go to the Netinfo tab and
see if it received an IP number from your router (assuming you have the DHCP server on).
If you do have an IP number, then your ethernet port is just fine. At that point, click on
browse and then import your settings to get back to where you were before.

If you don't receive an IP number and you are sure everything is fine (e.g. ethernet cables
are ok, DHCP server and router are ok), then you have a defective unit and need to contact
Sweden.

Double check everything. I am on vacation right now in Italy and discovered that one of the
ethernet cables that I brought along to use does not work. Don't assume anything!

Thanks Mitch!
I've connected via USB and activated DHCP on the Box.

This is Net info. seems that Ethernet adapter on RRC is failed.

MAC       : 00:50:c2:11:91:f2
IP address: 0.0.0.0
Netmask   : 0.0.0.0
Gateway   : 0.0.0.0
DNS       : 192.168.0.1

Looks bad, Alex.

make sure:
1) your DHCP was really activated
2) swap the ethernet cable in case it is defective

If It still shows no IP number after making another restart, then it is likely
defective, sorry!

Finally the problem was solved.

I've replaced Ethernet controller on the pcb board of RRC unit.

Works fine again!

Glad to hear it, Alex!

Then it was defective, but at least everything is ok again.
