Title: DIGIMODES - RRC1258MkII - TS480SAT
Post by: LA4ESA on 2011-08-22, 08:26:35
Anyone out there who can tell me what kind of interface i have to use to run digimodes via the remote system.?
I am using RRC1258MkII in both ends. Today i am using th SD2000 interface from AG Antenna. But i have to connect that box to my computer in the radio end, to use the sound card. So that goes very well when i am at the radio end and running my radio there.
But when i am at the control end, this is not a success at all. At the controll end i receive the sound through the RRC unit and into my computer at the control end, and into the DM780. But i am not able to transmit, the PTT function "not connected". Anyone who can help???? please..............  :o

I process the audio from the control end using the Signalink (www.tigertronics.com (http://www.tigertronics.com)).  The PTT cable from the Signal link is connected to the MIC input of the RCC.

Do i understand correct, that you are using the signallink at the control end and not the radio end?

Yes, the Signalink is at the Control end.  I do not want a computer running at the "Radio" end of the RemoteRig.

I source the audio from the headphone jack on the 480 control head to the "SPKR" input of the Signalink. I connect an external speaker to "MON" on the Signalink.  I connect the "Radio" output from the Signalink to the "Mic" input of the RemoteRig.  I use this set up for PSK and AFSK.

I have not figured out how to get line level audio from the RemoteRig and not sure if this is possible.

Good Luck with your set up.

Dave

How is your experience with decoding at the control side? Does the sound transmission make decoding any harder than usual?

Hi Marcelo,

I do not have problems with decoding RTTY or PSK once the volume controls are set properly.  You have to adjust the volume on the 480 control head the the Signal carefully.  It is easy to overdrive the audio to the computer.

I would prefer to get line level audio from the RemoteRig but I have not figured out how or if it can be done.

Hi Dave

Looks like digimod works fine for you. Can you please adv your ping rate to the radio side.

Thanks

If it works with signalink, then it would work with "nothing" else than a PC with soundcard connected to the audio of the remote  RRC. I have done some experiments in my past setup and I notice that it work harder then locally (there are 2 audio processes: analog to digital then analog again and these processes could cause loss of information - not so bad for easy human listening, not good at all for information bit transmission - depends on audio coding).

Hi Guy!

I bought the Signalink interface to work on PSK and RRTY with the TS480 and Remoterig is really easy to work on digital modes and works great...

But I have a problem...

Firs of all the conections are:

From Control RRC MIC/AUX to IN RJ45 Signalink From Sp Control RRC to Sp on
Signalink CAt normal and working with HRD and DM780.

Whats my problem?

On the Control RRC when the RRTY or PSK TX is finish I get a sound (very
high level) in every TX ending , I got a solution just connecting a headphones to
the TS480SAT SP, but also the sound is producing on the Radio RRC, also
quite high level sound/noise.

Did I something wrong?

Can I do something to get these sound noise out?

Have you the same problem?

Mike saids that probably that sound is produced by the Signalink...

What do you think about?

Thanks in advance, mni 73

– New function: PTT off mute delay time ( andvanced settings). Makes it possible to mute chirps coming from Tx-monitor audio when PTT is released.

new function in v2.50

Sorry Adde for this to late answer!

I was so busy! :'(

As Mike posted, the solution was found in the new V2.50 with the PTT mute delay time.
With a 220-240 value works great in my side

Mni 73s & HNY to everybody!

How start the FSK on TX with RRC-1258 MKII and TS480SAT?

Using DX4WIN with MMTTY (both last versions). Tested with MMTY only - same result.
Other modes works fine, but not the FSK "diddle". Radio sends only the carrier, no FSK frequency change.

As described in the manual pages 76 - 81:
At Radio site: Wire jumper goes from I/O PIN 6 (Radio RRC OUT1 is set to Baudot/45) to the TS480SAT Remote connector PIN 7 - RTK.
Control site: MMTTY settings activated (COMFSK). The USB cable goes from USB PC (RRC COMFSK is set OK) to the USB on RRC.

All other modes (SSB, CW) works OK, but on FSK no "diddle".
Using last SW 2.50 on both RRC, Setup manager 1.12.

I canīt find, where is the problem. On the Radio site or Control site or the PC to Control connection?
Can I measure at an PIN on USB or RRC or COM port (which PIN nr?) with a scope where the signal is interrupted?

Who can help?

I lost many hours to find a solution - no succes.

Hey

Did you find any sulution on this one, i have done the same, i also only get a carier when i transmitt. Out0 on remote RRC is set to RTTY > to pin 8 (From ts480 usermanaul, RTK RTTY (FSK) keying input. Ground this terminal to alternate Mark and Space.) Out1 is Keyer (and it work) Out2 is set to PTT > to pin 3 (from ts480 manaual, Ground this terminal to transmit. ANI (DATA connector) terminal turns OFF)

any help please

At Radio site: Wire jumper goes from I/O PIN 6 (Radio RRC OUT1 is set to Baudot/45) to the TS480SAT Remote connector PIN 7 - RTK.
mine goes to pin8 in 480 side
