General discussion forum / Kenwood TM-D710 TNC problem
« on: 2013-05-22, 18:27:20 »
Just installed my third remoterig on a TN-D710 and all basic functions work well.  However the TNC does not key the transmitter on command from the computer terminal  The terminal recognizes the TNC on boot-up but is unable to key the transmitter.  This function works perfectly when remoterig is not in the circuit.

Any suggestions or ideas?

Hi Mitch,
Since we last talked, the IC-2820h is now working well with 350 feet of cat 6 cable directly between the remote head and radio using the remoterigs.
I have an IC-7410 and would purchase another if I could accomplish the same thing with them.  The IC-7100 is not yet available here but I understand that it will not function on 40 or 80 meters which I need. If it were not for the lack of 40 and 80 the IC-7100 with the detachable control head would be ideal.

Will two Icom IC-7410 work with Remote Rig similar to the Yaesu twin concept?

Mitch,
Thanks for the info.   Actually I would prefer to run a hard wire Cat 6 cable rather than wireless  I just wanted to be certain this could be done without a switch in between or that none of the wires need to be transposed from a standard patch cable.

Question #1    Recently purchased a IC-2820H and would like to separate contol head from main unit by about 400 feet, no need for internet.  Can the Remoterig units be connected directly between the ethernet jacks with cat 6 cable?
If not what is the best method without using the internet?

Question #2    Is Remoterig compatible with Alinco DR-235TMKlll in any way?
