General discussion forum / RRC PC-Client virtual com ports
« on: 2010-10-15, 09:30:13 »
Hi,
alter testing the RRC PC-Client Dongle in serveral computers - i can not connect to the com ports.
I´m using over all the very last Firmware and Software. The connection takes place and the audio
transfer is ok in funktion. Also the PTT is working (I have a remote camera - so i can see the red
light on my remote Elecraft K3)

The old way with the RRC Client Box is also still working. I use the same LAN cable (change it from
the RRC Client to the Computer - same firewall and so on)
I´m using HRD 5.0 beta and even a homemade sotware for the remote antenna tuner. Both programms
state "can not open COMx port".

I´ve tried to switch off the Windows Firewall (Windows XP Prof. SP3) nothing changed.
Please give me more information to bring the com ports running.

i´ve tried the rrc pc-client on three pc - 2 time XP 32 Bit - one with Windows 7 32 Bit and one with Windows 7 64 Bit
All installations the same issue. Connect OK, no audio in and out. on both types RRC speaker and PC soundcard.

The same in all versions of RRC.

I use it on local network then WLAN to WLAN and local network.

Hi Tim,
HRD only connects the radio via RS232 or via REMOTE virtial serial port. Audio is to support on an extra
way. Therfore you need the RRC components. I use this configuration with my remote K3.
You will see the configuration an the left menue under ELECRAFT.

I found the problem by myself.
I unpluged the USB cable from the RRC-1258 - and the audio is back to normal.
When I plug the USB cable in  - the audio goes scrambled again.
Maybe the problem is, that the K3 has common MIC and PTT grouding?
I didn´t get the above problem with my second installation on the ICOM 2820.

Hi all,
my remote K3 with HRD via COM2 and remote Tunercontrol via COM1 is working pretty good in receive mode.
I can send up to 10-12 watt with clear audio. But over this point only extrem hiss is heard on the modulation.
A second test: When i set the K3 in tx mode and play from my internal voice recorder fine modulation up
to 100 watt is transmitted.

I set a ferrit clamp on the shielded mic/ptt cable and on the 12v power cable. nothing changed.

Hi all,
as my ICOM 2820 is working very well remotly, i´ve made a pair of cables to connect
my ICOM ID-1 remotly. I´ve used the same radio setting (9=2820).
But it does not work. It seems to have not the same protokoll or the same baud rate?
When i use radio type 1 = ICOM i can transfer audio with the same set of cables but
the RC-24 (controlunit) stay with no light and no display.

Any solution out there?

Hi all,

I´ve configured a connection with my IC 2820 RIG. It works absolutly fine in commands and audio.
I made several QSO via DSTAR and FM Repeaters.

But after few Minutes (2-5) the Control switch the IC-2820 Unit off. I have to start once again with
the PWR button. then i can stay stand by few minutes again.

Both Remote Control Station are on a cable internet connection which is also used for our main
internet connection 20 MBits/Down 2 MBits/Up on both sides.

Any Idea?
