General discussion forum / Re: Which unit to purchase

Thanks Mitch. Ultimately I plan to purchase two K3 radios but don't know if the remote experience is worth the effort.
It won't be big antennas and all just low band 160 dipole, 80/40 vertical.  The cost of a pair of RemoteRig units isn't the
issue as can always sell them off if I don't like the experience.  I have the K2 and would use as a test platform with simple
wire antenna at the remote site.  If I like the setup then would spend the big bucks on the K3 units. Having already put the infrastructure in place via the RemoteRig units.   Just trying to keep the investment expenses within reason. Cheers,  Karin

I'm considering setting up a remote site.  I have an Elecraft K2 that I can initially use at the remote site for testing, and would eventually purchase an Elecraft K3 if things work out OK.  Which model number RemoteRig unit pair should I purchase?
What is different about the RemoteRig unit designed for the Elecraft K3?  Can I use the Elecraft K3 RemoteRig unit with the Elecraft K2 for testing purposes?  Regards, Karin

I have a K2 I'd like to remote control.  I can put a single RRC unit at the remote site.  I've done extensive Windows programming of Power SDR by modifying the source code to run the K2.  I'd like to run my highly modified PowerSDR with the Ethernet port of my computer talking to the remote RRC over the Internet.  The version of PowerSDR I'm modifying was never meant to send/receive control data over an Ethernet port.  It was always local serial comms.  My modified PowerSDR software will communicate via Ethernet.  Is the data structure/protocol, polling rate, packet structure proprietary?
Since HRD software supposedly can be used with a remote RRC unit, have they made NDA agreement with Microbit?

Configuration of Routers, Firewalls, etc / Hourly Data Usage
« on: 2016-11-26, 00:21:58 »
Hello:
First post.  Can anyone comment on the approximate data usage on an hourly basis.  I am in the planning stages just now for a remote site that will have to use 4G LTE as the data link on the remote site.  I'd like to size the data plan and not go overboard with the requirements.  Yes data usage for an individual would be based on amount of time the link is used, but for comparison purposes I would like to put a stake in the ground to compare the ISP vendors.  Right now am looking at AT&T and Verizon.  Looked at Sprint an T mobile and there data plans do not vary much from the big guns in the market.

Thanks
