General discussion forum / Re: RCC Radio won't let me in...

Hi Mitch,

Yes I had ability to turn power off to RRC Radio and did so today.  Also went into Microsetup and restarted the RCC box.  I still don't have ability to use my RRC Control and access.  The ONLY thing that happened in between is I gave my friend with his own RRC Control box using same radio the access code to my RCC Radio.  It works fine for him...and he can turn it off/on etc.  But I can't get into it after he has used it.????  Ugh!   I did setup the Ping reset also but don't know ip to put in to ping to?  I read in the manual it must go to a ping address it cannot access...and used the default settings for the rest.  It did nothing I could tell so I disabled it again.

General discussion forum / RCC Radio won't let me in...

I had the system all working fine..a good friend used his RCC Control to login to my RCC Radio and it worked great also.  However he was unable to turn OFF the TS480 with his radio control head.  He rebooted everything...his 480, RCC, router all...no luck.  I turned  the radio OFF with a wifi 110v socket (re-powered 12dc ps).  In a few minutes I tried to access...and no luck.  My remote camera shows the RCC did NOT power off (not plugged into the wifi socket haaa).  So is there anyway I can send a signal to reset the RCC Radio?  HE can hook right back up...so something in the RCC Radio is not letting him 'go' when he powers it off.  I would think after a watchdog time it will recycle...apparently not.  It's been a couple of hours now and I still can't turn on the RCC Radio with the 480 head.  Of course I removed power from the RCC Control to reset it.  Once I try I get the 123 busy signal...error code from the 480 audio...then the yellow LED on the right of the AUX/MIC jack blinks until I unplug it and reboot.

I will be heading down to reset the RCC Radio tomorrow.  Any other ideas thoughs/suggestionis?

Tx Mitch.  You answered my question about picking up a prebuilt cable instead of building it myself.  I know on Ebay several hams offer custom cables they pre-build for certain rigs.  Just hoping this was case for this one.  I've got the parts, will just hook it up here.  My next issue will be hooking up RR with HRD and those settings so that WSJT works properly.  I use them now with an IC7300 but not at the remote.  Perhaps your answer and my questions will help another ham reviewing this forum.  Thanks again & 73

Hey Mitch...

You've been so very helpful with me thru emails.  I was trying to keep from bothering you further and found this forum to find out if someone 'makes' them up with proper shielding etc.  I'm the Bill in Fla that is trying to hookup the TS480hx control head thru the RR to the 480 RF base at the remote.  I need 2 cables or an 'all in one' that someone makes that is AT THE CONTROL HEAD end.  I'm trying to hookup FT8 with the 480 head.  I don't have the RF end at the home end...it's at the remote site with the remote RCC there.  I'm using WSJT.  You had suggested I use the Rigblaster Plug n Play I have however I called the factory and it will not work they say AND they don't make a cable for this hookup.  They do sell another board that will work with adaptors but not what I have already. (remember I won it at Hamcation)  Oh well....maybe by presenting this on the forum it will help others too.  I have seen many different sellers on Ebay that will make custom cables but none like this one.  I hope you/someone on the board will know where to send me.  Otherwise I'll be trying my very old soldering skills with magnifying glass to get it going. :-)

Cable #1 - 6' or so of shielded cable to PC 3.5mm SPK OUT audio to Tip to pin 3, Shield GND of the RRC HOME RJ45 MIC/AUX Pin 3 Pin 4 to GND.   This would provide audio IN TO the RRC FROM the PC speaker or headphones from the PC sound card.

Cable #2 -  6' or so of shielded cable to PC 3.5mm MIC IN - Tip audio/Shield GND to RCC 3.5mm SP plug tip audio/shield gnd.  This would provide audio IN to the PC sound card from the RRC HOME 3.5mm SP Plug audio to tip to audio.

I hope I got that right and not reversed again.  So that's specifically what I want.  You had mentioned a transformer for potential problems to match impedance but that is probably an add on?  Thanks Mitch.  Oh yes...I live in Jacksonville

Does anyone MAKE and SELL this cable hookup from the RCC/480HX/PC for both line in/out of the pc?  Surely there's one on Ebay or someplace but I have no idea what they call it.

I'm using a RR RC1258 2 box system one at the remote, one at home QTH.  The remote head is connected to the remote RCC1258 and all is working fine for SSB communications.  I now want to hook up my PC to the 480 / RCC1258 480 Head.  How do I do that?  I use one USB cable with my ic7300 and it works fine with the WSJT and JTAlert software.  Anyone have a checklist to help?

IN other words, can I buy the RCC twins and get them up and running with my IC7300...and if I want a different radio later can I use the same RCC-1258Mklls twins on the new radio (like a TS 480 with detachable head?)

I have another ham friend that will also need access to the shared remote RCC1258 at the remote end.  What does HE need to buy...another set or ONE box?

So does the RCC1258 come with windows software that I install on my PC to go remote?  I have the radio remoted with a station 35 miles away so all access will be thru the net.
