Mitch, I tired that apporach first, but these ports do no have the 'Port Settings' tab available when you right click on properties. They are somewhat different than any other serial port type I have experienced. The description under Device Manger is as follows:

Microbit SerialUDP Device (Com21)

I tried a freebie port mapping program without success.

My 'Port Find' program sees them without a problem.

When using the RRC black boxes, I use a program written by Walter-HB9ZS to control my Alpha87 via com port 2. It's a great program available at:

http://www.qslnet.de/member/hb9zs/

I recently added RRC PC Remote Client to my setup, since it reduces my PC 'footprint' when operating. The only issue here is that the RRC PC Remote Client uses com ports 20, 21, & 22. My interface program will not 'see' com ports above 16. I contacted HB9ZS and he stated he uses the Microsoft communication module 'Mscomm32ports.ocx' which only supports ports 1-16.

Is there any chance to make the port values user defined or lower them to 16 and below?

I would like some insight on the various 'light' indicators and green meter which appear in the client window.

I have in the upper left corner a green and red light, then in the lower left corner a lone red space orange green green black lights.

My receive audio has a few hick-ups now and then... and crashes if I try to use the computer for much else. I have decent internet connection.

A crib sheet would be handy.

Thanks & 73

Audio feedback probelm solved after hours of setting changes, software changes (2.20 vs 2.27), changes to my MicroHam router interface.

The solution(?) was simple. While playing with HRD adjusting my rigs microphone gain, I noticed on my Pro III band scope (via remote camera), that the problem when away with zero mic gain, came back with any significant gain. I set the AF volume to zero, same thing. Next adjusted thae AF gain back to mid range, problem 'disappeared'.

The crazy thing is.. I had rebooted the system a number of times (changing software versions & settings) and power cycled both RRC devices and the remote radio many times. Adjusting the rig AF several times, including zero.

Maybe the problem will 'reappear' in the future, but today the system is behaving properly.

I have been getting complaints about 'feedback' on my remote signal. Many listeners state that is sounds PA feedback, not RF. I have tried many different settings jitter delay, buffer size etc. to no avail.

I have a MicroHam interface back in the shack... probably the root cause. However, I thought I would query the group for suggestions I have been using v2.20, but recently moved to v2.27.

Thanks in advance

I believe my problem was failure to reread the updated manual for newer releases. I read in another posting, regarding HRD issues, that com 2 mode setting must be set to  ''logically parallel com 0" for proper communication with my Icom Pro III.

Will update and test tomorrow.

Wow... This is a biggie! I would have never 'discovered' this little tidbit (see 'Insanity' post).

Thanks will update tomorrow and make these changes.

You may have missed my point. I can install the new software, however, the radio side device hangs up and does not reboot automatically. I physcially have to power cycle device to reboot. It does not reboot via command on that side either, remote side is okay.

After I power cycle, I check software level and it indicates newer level.

My query is whether this may be the root cause of HRD not connecting above 2.20.

Insanity can sometimes be defined as doing the same things over and over expecting different results. Well I installed the latest 2.27 update since I have a PC Client on order, but I can not get HRD to connect. This was the same as 2.26 & 2.25. My HRD is only happy with 2.20...

Early in my intial setup my radio side box quit rebooting after any changes were made to the setting or software level. The only way I can reboot is to power cycle the device. I wonder if the new install is fully configured properly without the normal reboot cycle happening, maybe some corruption occurs when I update.

I am miles away from my remote radio and can not touch it for 5 more months.

Any thoughts?

I experienced a similar problem with HRD when I upgraded to 2.26. I backed down to 2.25, then finally 2.20 my initial starting point; where HRD connected like a dream.

I offer no technical reason why only 2.20, I double checked settings in both higher versions to ensure they were the same.

Mike, that's good to know. However, I am little confused... because Ham Radio Deluxe (HRD) did not connect on com0 with any version higher than 2.2. Those settings appeared the same in the higher versions.

Maybe there are other setting changes I overlooked, which ones would you suggest check?

I forgot to mention, that early in my initial setup process, my radio side device developed a glitch were it would not reboot without a power off cycle. This is not big problem, just looking for a possible cause and/or fix.

I had an issue commuicating with my Alpha on com1, so I downloaded the latest 2.26 installed it
no joy... noticed it required a hardware update to V6.

So, I then downloaded 2.25, still no joy (wasn't sure if a hardware update was required, I believe I have V5).

Finally, I moved back to 2.20, which is were I started the process. Something happened along the way and the Alpha was happy with all versions, but HRD would not start until I was back to 2.20.

Hope this might help others.
