General discussion forum / Strange Noise on transmit
« on: 2012-12-27, 03:59:28 »
So my Remote Rig has been in service for a couple of years. Works well.

But is has developed a bizarre noise, not hum, on transmit. At first I was thinking that maybe it was feeding back into itself. The noise, kinda like a digital feedback loop, drive the transmitter to full power. My home audio is there inside it. I've power rebooted both ends. All rs-232 controls, ptt and W works. Just no clean audio on TX from home.

Anyone else see this?

Driving a Elecraft K3, it is not RF feedback. If I drop the power to 2 watts, it still does it, and it occurs on both antennas.

At home, a simple handheld microphone,. elecraft MH-2.

I've uploaded a web based slide presentation of what I have shown to a few local clubs on how I use the Remote Rig and the K3. It is a very simple presentation, not inteneded to be technical:

General discussion forum / 1258 II and K3
« on: 2010-03-14, 17:18:56 »
I have used the original 1258 in the past. I just updated to the Mark II, and I am using Com 2 at 38,400 for the K3 and Com 1 at 4800 for rotor control. I normally use TRX here at the home (control) qth. The frequency display jumps around, along with other panel buttons. The rotor display also jumps a little. I did not have this with the original 1258. If I use HRD this still happens.
Are there any settings I can look at? I was thinking about slowing down the rs-232 on the K3, but the rotor control at 4800 does is also. (Rotor is LP-rotor driving a Idiom controller).
Audio seems rather good, with very few drop outs.

General discussion forum / USA Availablity?

Mikael,
Do you have the means to ship/sell to the USA yet?

I have an Elecraft K3 already in remote use. Using HRD/IpSound. I could use ypur version withj the rs-232 control, but can you also supply hardware PTT control from the control side? That is, I want to press a switch ( I use a floor switch) to activate the PTT. At the radio end, that could be a closure to ground or a software command, but I really would like a hardware PTT control at the home location.
It gets tiring to always hunt down the "Icon" for a PTT !

   Thank you

p.s., Will anyone be showing this at the Dayton Hamvention in the US next week?
