I found myself going up to my remote location to reboot my router about every month. Fortunately, the remote location is only 8 miles from my house.

So, what I did was to put in a cheap timer between the wall outlet and the router AC plug. I set the timeer to briefly turn off the router and turn it back on at 2am. Seemed to do trick. No more lost connections.

I know there is probably a setting in the router that I could enable, but I don't have quite as much knowledgeknowledge about these things.

Mitch, feel free to chime in. :)

Well, I had a great 3+ year run with a flawless RemoteRig system. However, this past week lightning struck the power lines and blew out my RemoteRig RRC Radio box. I bought a new one (just the Radio RRC), set the red jumpers inside the RRC for the type of rig and configured the RRC Radio box with the same settings that I used to have on the damaged RRC Radio box. I even set the RemoreRig DNS service. Mitch set me up via TeamViewer last time.

I read the instruction manual, but I may have forgotten something. Is there something I'm missing? How do I get the system working?

Is there a way to run a 2nd rig with the one RemoteRig connection?

General / CAT/COM port splitter for TS-480?
« on: 2014-10-28, 00:42:11 »
Maybe Mitch might know - or anyone...

I'm using the CAT port from the TS-480 for the Bandmaster III in order to convert CAT info from the rig to band Data for automatic antenna switching whenever I choose a different band.

I'd like to use the new Nano, but my CAT port on the TS-480 is in use. Is there a COM/CAT splitter that will allow me to connect the Nano (thru the RRC Control/Radio COM port and still retain my CAT connection to the Bandmaster III?

Thanks much!!!

I'm in a quandary about the RRC-Micro. I just received shipment of one and I'm at a loss of how to arrange it with my current remote setup.

Right now, I use the CAT port on the TS-480 for the Bandmaster III to convert the CAT data to readable band data that controls my antenna switch. Whenever I change bands on the TS-480 control panel, the RRC-Radio will send the CAT signal out the CAT port on the rig and then to the Bandmaster controlling the antenna relay located on the tower. Whenever I switch bands, the antenna switch follows.

Now, the RRC-Micro Setup instructions imply (and the product diagram shows), that in order to use that system, I need to have one of the unused COM ports on the RRC-Radio (COM2 in my case) connected to the TS0480's CAT port - however, I already have a connection on the CAT port with the Bandmaster III and the antenna switcher.

QUESTION:  Can I use a COM port splitter to connect both the Bandmaster III and the COM port on the RRC-Radio box to the TS-480 CAT port? If that will work, is this one OK?

Or, is this one what I should use?

UPDATE: I was just reading here and it seems possible.

Is there someone out that has resolved this issue before?

Thanks much!

I am remote with a TS-480 with a CAT connection for convering band data for an antenna switch. Whenever I change bands at the RCC Control location, the Radio, theu the CAT port send band data (thru Bandmaster III) switches the antenna automatically.

Is this same ability available for the Yaesu 8900? There's no CAT port, but can you get band data out of the Data port?

Thanks much!

Since I'm now remote, my TX Monitor no longer works. Is there a way to enable it?

General discussion forum / Control RRC 'SP' output ???
« on: 2012-08-01, 05:50:20 »
I'm using a TS-480. I find that the speaker on the back of the TS-480 control head is too cheesy.

QUESTION 1: I'd like to hook and external speaker to the 'S' jack on the Control RRC. What is the best external speaker that I can use, powered or not?

QUESTION 2: Audio still comes through the TS-480 control head's speaker. What is the best way to mute that audio, without muting the audio from the 'SP' jack?

Thanks much!

I have the Bandmaster III taking the CAT output from the TS-480 and using it to switch my 4 antennas. In order to use the Micro PC Client, do I need to have that CAT connection for rig control, or is that linked through the Radio RRC as usual? In short, do I need to free up that CAT connection to use the Micro PC Client?

It seems that in the instruction manual, for the Radio RRC it says that a 3.5mm stereo plug on both end of the cable can be used to plug into the TS-480 straight key jack. Is that correct, or will I need to make a cable that is stereo on one end (coming out of the PAD jack on the Radio RRC) and mono on the other end (key input on radio)?

Thanks much!
