Hi - I had to replace my  control RRC 1258 with a new one due to lightning strike but can't get the Kenwood 480 to power on. The new control RRC is assigned a new ddns name and I've upgraded both units to latest firmware.

So the boxes look ok - says radio ON, connection ON, SIP - no last known errors, connection status - connected/transferring, rtp status -excellent, etc. - so everything looks good when I use the web interface to troubleshoot.

I get a soft click from 480 head about every 20 seconds but otherwise it won't power on.

I've been through the setup process with Mitch 2 years ago so I'm not really a newbie!  Just need some troubleshooting help!  Thank you!

Hi - I have the wifi card installed and using ver 2.88. This config worked fine with my last phone (Samsung Note 3) using the Verizon mobile hotspot - it found it every time. Now with my newer Samsung Note 4, still Verizon, the wifi card finds several networks in the neighborhood but doesn't show my mobile hotspot (which is the one I need to use). The settings on my phone are fine and my other computers see the verizon hotspot but not the remoterig box.

Any suggestions?  Thanks.

General discussion forum / JT65 and Latency

Hi - for time sensitive modes like JT65, are there certain settings in the manager software that may work to reduce latency? Seems I can make JT65 contacts fine when I'm home (no remoterig) but using remoterig, I can see all signals coming in, decodes fine, but no one hears me or responds to me, so I'm thinking maybe my buffering or latency settings may be affecting the timing?  Any thoughts?  Thanks.

Configuration of Routers, Firewalls, etc / TS-480 Freezes
« on: 2014-03-27, 04:01:08 »
Hi - I have my radio RRC and radio body of TS-4890 in Kansas, and I'm traveling in LA using installed Wifi kit with antenna and hitting my Verizon 4G phone for Internet (and it shows 4G connection). Mitch helped me set up the RRC's at home and was working fine and those settings should be fine. But traveling, the Kenwood 480 head will freeze up after 1 minute of use, then unfreeze a few minutes later, then freeze again, or just turn off the head itself. So I can't really hold a QSO!

I'm using port 8080 on the home Cisco router and changed my router admin port to 443 so shouldn't be any conflicts with 8080. I also gave priority traffic to port 8080 through my router setup to give the highest priority to the RRC.

My radio RRC shows:
Rx jitter buffer - 12
Rx jitter delay - 10
Audio packet size - 20
Audio quality setting - 0
RTP Tx mode - continuous

As noted in another post, I also ensured that ping watchdog was off and was never turned on.

Any ideas on why it's freezing up on me? Has anyone experienced this issue before?  Thanks guys.
