I have searched and not seen this answered before (I could have missed it though)

I have retired and no longer travel so I no longer need my Remote Rig for travel.

I am trying to make my ham shack the remote station and my main house, my control station - both are co-located and share the LAN.  I have them talking to each other and I can listen and transmit remotely but I am not getting the CAT to transfer properly.

I want to be able to operate my ham shack while in the ham shack but when I am in the main house I would like to remote into my ham shack and operate my station.  Because of this I need to have the Remote Rig somehow connect through WIN4K3 to access CAT commands and avoid COM port conflicts.

Setup:

Remote: Elecraft K3 - connected to the computer using WIN4K3 as the control software - Remote Rig is also connected with the com port for the Remote Rig going to the Computer (the K3 has its COM port also going to the computer and WIN4K3 is using it)

Control:  Elecraft K3/0 remote

WIN4K3 is running well on the remote computer and I have AUX ports setup.  I would like to have the COM port for the Remote Rig accessing the AUX port from WIN4K3 and NOT connecting it directly to the K3.  That way I can share CAT commands with remote rig.

NOTE:  In the main house I have the K3/0 remote working where I can listen and transmit - BUT it is not sharing the frequency data because I can't get the COM ports to play nice.

if you have this set-up working I would love to know how you told the Remote Rig what COM port to listen too within WIN4K3.

Configuration of Routers, Firewalls, etc / Hughesnet
« on: 2015-12-20, 22:06:50 »
I have spent hours searching and reading... sorry if this is a duplicate but could not find an answer.

I am trying to remote to my farm in Missouri.  I can only get Hughesnet at the farm.

I have had remoterig working with my Elecraft K3 when using wired internet in other states but I simply can't seem to get hughesnet (satellite) to work.  I have read that IPv6 is a possibility or that a VPN is an option.

I am open to doing either.  If the VPN is an easier solution I would be glad to go that route.   I know very little about setting up and using the IPv6 vs IPv4.  From reading it seems that a VPN might be a better solution.

Any advice and/or does someone know of a thread that can help me?  Thanks in advance.  I have been trying to get hughesnet to work for 6 months... very frustrating.

WI4T (serious withdrawal from my ham radio)

Hi, I have a K3 remote radio and a K0 control head.  (Remote = where radio with antenna is at)

The setup was working flawless for 2 weeks.  About 1 week ago, when I turned on the control K0, upon connection, the audio was blaring and I really could not control the audio or radio well.  In addition the connection seemed to be pulsating at a random pattern.  For example, last night a station was +30 over S9:  the audio would drop to zero at different intervals such as 1 sec, 3 seconds, 5 seconds all randomly but making the ability to follow the conversation impossible.  In addition, this “pulsing” also affected my ability to tune; when I heard audio I could tune but when the audio dropped out it is as though I lost connection for a second and I could not tune despite turning the knob.

At the control K0 end the status shows the radio is connected.  At the remote radio end it status says the radio is disconnected even though it is not.  In addition at the control K0 end the router shows amber not green.

I am wondering if there is a known technical issue or perhaps somebody moved the cables on the radio end and I have an intermittent connection (hoping for technical as I don't want to make the trip back!)

I have reset the main routers at both homes.  I have also reset the RemoteRigs at both ends multiple times.
It is odd that it worked flawless for 2 weeks and now, every time, it has a pulsating connection.

Any advice would be helpful.

Hi, my name is Greg and I am new to RemoteRig and the K3 Mini

I have the following situation in LAN and WAN:  my control radio will power on and off and turn the remote radio on and off.  I have audio from the remote radio.  However, all functions on the control(buttons) are frozen and do not work, in addition I cant change the frequency of the remote from the control.  Right now the control is showing 10.100.00 for the frequency in CW mode but the remote is on 20 meters SSB, I am listening to a QSO on the control radio just fine!

I have an Asus router N66U, I have forwarded ports 13000, 13001, and 13002 and I have put the IP of the remote remoterig into the DMZ.  I have disabled SIP passthrough although the problem exist with it enabled as well.

I have reentered the settings several times.  I am using the dynamic dnns service from remoterig and I have the correct IP address.

Any thoughts what to try?

Thanks,
