Feature Requests / More Modern CODEC's
« on: 2019-01-16, 18:28:10 »
Any plans to implement more modern CODEC's, such as SILK/Opus? G.711 is a very old
standard and newer ones would improve the performance.

General discussion forum / Dayton RemoteRig Questions
« on: 2018-05-12, 15:47:03 »
If anyone needs help or has questions in Dayton, I will be available at the DARC booth about 50% of
the time (across from the ARRL). Otherwise, you can contact me at 424-288-9171.

RemoteRig does not exhibit in Dayton, but their products are available at HRO.

I am helping someone that has had a running station for several years, which stopped working after some internet issues caused
by the hurricane. The internet is back up, but now he can no longer connect without errors and gets cut-off immediately.

As far as I can tell, something is blocking the UDP cmd port. I tried changing the port to several others of various lengths, but it
makes no difference. The status screen shows the following:

connection status: faulty
SIP status: connected/transfering
Last SIP error: none
RTP status: excellent (60)
UDP cmd status: error(0)

I tried everything I could to change things around in the router and of course the port numbers.

We also tried two different routers with the same results. The wiring of the RRC to the rig and the red straps were also checked and are ok.

What could be causing this problem?

Configuration, RRC 1258 / Control RRC Showing as Radio RRC
« on: 2017-08-12, 01:25:00 »
After doing a reset, a control RRC is now showing as a radio RRC. This is the opposite to what is
mentioned on http://www.remoterig.com/wp/?page_id=1695 so I tried to use the command
http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx/setrrcdevice?type=control instead, but it didn't work.

Any advice?

Update: I tried upgrading to 2.91 from 2.87, but it didn't solve the problem

Configuration, RRC 1258 / CW Delay Settings and Winkeyer
« on: 2017-06-10, 19:53:14 »
Are the two delay settings under CW also carried over to the Winkeyer emulation?

Configuration, RRC 1258 / Mode-0 for COM ports not available
« on: 2017-03-19, 01:20:36 »
I noticed that mode-0 (transparent mode) is not available for either COM port per the manual.
Is this a change? Any reason for it to go away?

One of our users upgraded to 2.90 and his Winkey emulation stopped working. Win-Test gave the error
message that Winkey (in his case COM8) was not recognized. Downgrading to 2.87 fixed the problem.

He is using Windows 7. I found the following in a long thread:
http://www.remoterig.com/forum/index.php?topic=4558.msg21340#msg21340
but it seems to indicate that this is a specific Windows 10 problem.

Thanks,

General discussion forum / is 2.87 really a beta?
« on: 2015-10-06, 13:22:05 »
The file name for 2.87 indicates that it is a beta. Is this a release, or still a beta?

There is the following comment on 2.86:

"Important! If you are upgrading a radio RRC then all control RRCs used to connect to it also must be upgraded to 2.86!"

I am having problems with the Micro client on a couple of existing systems running 2.83 and wanted to upgrade them if this
would help. The problem is that I have 14 users with various firmware versions on the control side. If this applies only to
2.86 and not to 2.87, then I will upgrade the radio RRC's to 2.87, otherwise I need to work out a plan first.

The K3 no longer turns off when disconnecting using the new SIP client, even if the
program is killed.

Configuration, RRC 1258 / Parameters set from Control RRC
« on: 2015-01-02, 18:48:00 »
Hi guys,

One of the multi-user groups I am a a member of has a discussion going on which parameters can
be set at the control RRC side and which ones must be at the radio RRC side, or both. I am not sure
myself as to the status using current firmware. I know that both the Micro and Nano software override
the radio RRC side, but as far as I can remember, this does not (yet?) apply to the RRC itself.

Could you please list the parameters that must be set per side, or can be overridden by the control RRC?

Sorry for the off topic........

For my Florida QTH, I am looking for a used K3/0 (large version, I believe it is too soon for a used mini).

If you replaced your K3/0 with a K3/0 mini, or are not using your K3/0, I may be interested in purchasing it.
This can be with or without a control RRC, but I am looking for an RRC as well.

I can take delivery in Florida after December 1st, before then in Europe.

Please contact me off list at dj0qn (at) darc.de.

General discussion forum / Dual Channel Audio in all RRC's?
« on: 2014-08-12, 17:59:09 »
I am a bit confused on which RRC's have dual-channel audio (dual RX) support. I understood that all
RRC's starting with hardware version 5 would have this included moving forward. The name was changed
from "RRC-1258MkII" to "RRC-1258MkIIs" to denote this new function. See: http://www.remoterig.com/wp/?page_id=1395

Now my group has been ordering some new RRC's with the plan to migrate to a dual RX K3 from our TS-480.
I was surprised that the RRC's are not marked "RRC-1258MkIIs", but instead have the old "RRC-1258MkII" on
them instead, indicating a single-channel audio version. However, the box and sticker on the bottom have
"MkIIs" on them (hardware v7).

Is this a mistake on the RRC front markings, or are there different versions floating around? I hope my original
assumption was correct that all starting v5 are dual RX, otherwise we bought some potentially useless RRC's.
