Trying to setup windows 8 pro. the virtual drivers do not seem to create com ports. I get 4 unknown devices instead of com ports 16, 17 , 18 etc

Is there any info on windows 8?

UPDATE ... Windows 8 will not let the virtual drivers be installed via the normal exe file...  seems to be a permission isuue ... third party INF file does not contain a digital signature

General discussion forum / ICOM C-IV Combiner
« on: 2012-11-09, 17:43:00 »
Is there a combiner for ICOM C-IV ports? I need to connect a SCS Pactor controoler and the RCC to an ICOM radio.

There is a device (CAT-MATE) for Yaesu radios, but I have not found anything for ICOM units.

Could someone please enlighten a poor confused HAM trying to make this thing work...

One page 92 there are two strapping charts. Are they correct for ICOM CIV genreal use?

I understand that pin two on the icom mic is up frequency, I have nothing connected in pin two and my 7000 changes frequency when PPT is pressed.

IF someone could give me the correct option strapping, I would appreciate it?

Best Regards

I have set up a private network using a linksys router and two NANOSTATION M2 WIFI units.

The 706 will turn on and receive and transmit, but the display stops working after awhile. Has anyone experimented with this?

General discussion forum / Debugging my PC Clinet
« on: 2010-12-11, 23:14:03 »
Computers are harder than radios!

Thanks to Roland, I have a client that installs, but I can not get it to work properly.

When i am on the local LAN, the client will connect to the MK2 and 706. I get a really nice green bar indicating audio stream present.

I get no sound.

attached is my device manager page, the sound card properties page and a debug session.

I have not even tried the HRD piece to control the radio.

I have the 706 connected to the MK2 via a normal cat 5 cable.

If I use the PPT, the radio goes into xmit, but will not return to receive.

If I try to connect the system via my dnydns it never connects. When I use the two MK2 device, every thing works great.

I cannot firgure out what I am doing wrong. any help would be greatly appreciate.

Happy Holidays
Mike

General discussion forum / 706 high pitched noise on xmit
« on: 2010-06-12, 03:33:27 »
tried to use the rig on a net and had nasty high pitched (almost sounds like data burst) noise on my transmit. It almost covered my voice audio.

I tried chokes on cat 5 ethernet and both control and radio 1258 with no joy.

has anyone experienced something like this?

General discussion forum / 706 OP question? volume ??
« on: 2010-06-11, 18:02:09 »
I am using the remote on the internal network, before I Move it to the internet.

My setup is 706 radio connected to router via cat5

contol head connected via linksys ethernet wireless bridge using DHCP. Heil hedset and standard hand mic with motorola speaker.

It seems that the volume both on the headset and the speaker is low. I have to increase it by using the control head dial.

Is this a normal situation or perhaps due to my setup?

It is a great system, however and I do enjoy the ability to move around the QTH.
