Configuration, RRC 1258 / "Choppy Audio"
« on: 2021-10-08, 02:35:13 »
I will move this to another forum as I had not luck with General one.

I finally got the units to work........BUT.........from one Wednesday night to another,  I have come up with ANOTHER problem.

It worked fine for the Net, I shut down the remote end and left to Radio end up and running.  On the following Wednesday night I powered up the Remote end and when it connected, the audio was being "chopped" into about 1 second "blocks" that made it unuseable.

Any I deas on what would cause this??

It is on my local wifi network, as it is NOT useable off site.

Thanks,

Chuck

Ok, I am going to re-try and see if I can get my units up and running...................may be  :-\

One thing I have NOT gotten straight is how I am supposed to be able to connect the Remote unit up to the internet from a Hotel/Motel room THAT DOES NOT RPT NOT  have any wired connection?  Hotels/Motels now go with Wireless inter net and I can't see how the remote unit is going to be able to connect when it ONLY comes with a Ethernet connection.  If I get another wi-fi card for the remote, how does it connect to the Model wi-fi when I have no way to log in to their system?

If I am at a Friends house I realize that I can hook up with their system.  It is just when on the road that I can't figure out! :o

If I can get this straitened out I may go and try using the dns service that I found in the new manual I downloaded.  Which package should I get?  Do I need just the "one zone, fifty record" setup?

Thanks,

Chuck

Configuration, RRC 1258 / Config/Setup

Well I got a set of seperation cables for my 706MkII and tried to do the set-up per the Manual.   :-X

I have tried to connect to the units with two laptops, one running XP/SP3 and the other with WIN 7.  Connecting the
units with cat 5 cables to a Netgear Switch, I can see the activity lights happily blinking away on the switch, but do not connect to of either one them using MicroBit setup manager.

When I start microbit manager I get an error message saying "device disconnected"  this is with both laptops.

I then tried to use the USB cable, disconnected the Ethernet cable, unpluged the power, hooked up the USB cable and turned the unit back on.  NOTHING HAPPENED!  The unit I connected up (the remote unit) only had the PWR light blinking slowly.

Anyone have an idea what is going on?

One other thing that I am wondering about is that is seems that at the remote site the manual seems to think that you will always have a hardwire connection to the internet via Cat 5 cable.  As most places are getting away from hardwire, how are you to connect up the remote unit??  Do I have to buy another Wireless Card? Can I run the remote through my, hopefully working, Laptop?

I hope some one can give me some ideas on getting this working, as right now I am not happy! :-[

Thanks,

Chuck

Some how I have lost the contact for having my seperation cable converted to use with the RRC set.

Can some one let me know who is doing the conversions?

You can contact me through the forum or via my e-mail on QRZ.

Thanks,
