General discussion forum / YAESU FTDX10
« on: 2022-03-22, 22:48:47 »
Hello,

searching the forum shows a couple of question about using remoterig for a Yaesu ftdx10, which are quite old and with no answer.

Did anyone managed to get that done? The solution provided by Yaesu has limited features and does not allow CW at all, so after a very positive experience with a Kenwood TS-480 I wonder if it would be possible to use remoterig.

General discussion forum / multiple location
« on: 2020-10-14, 17:53:26 »
Hello,

I have a remote station with a TS-480 and run it with its front panel at home.

Now I would like to put the radio at the top of a mountain and us it together with a friend of mine.

Is it possible to have another remoterig box and another front panel and use the radio from two locations -obviously not at the same time-?

Would it be possible to run the second site with a remoterig box and a pc/software instead of using the TS-480 front panel?

As usual, I guess others have either already done that or at least enquired about it.

Thanks

hello,

I have tried to search the forum for the problem. Pretty sure, as usual, others have had the same and solved.

Had a system set up and running for more than a year without a single problem.

Then I was not using it -not switching the radio on- for 3 months.

Now if I switch the radio on, for a few seconds I can hear the audio and see the frequency. After about 5 seconds, the frequency indication dispappears and I see just dots, and I get a UL sent on CW.

Nothing has been changed on the remote side. Here the only change is that I have replaced one of the TV box attached to the network.

On the system status I see no error indication. Everything seems ok.

Anything I should do to locate the source of the problem.

Thank in advance for any help

General discussion forum / connection problem
« on: 2019-08-24, 12:51:13 »
hello,

using a TS-480S remotely for several months now without any problem.

Yesterday it started with the following problem:

After a while, it could be a couple of minutes or just a few seconds, the frequency on the display disappears. I see a line of dots instead.

At this point it let me change the filter width, NR parameters, etc, but I get no audio and cannot transmit.

When it does that, it sends a CW "UL" message.

Any idea about what it could be?

General discussion forum / IC-7100 noise from remoterig
« on: 2019-05-06, 23:40:30 »
hello,

just set up a IC-7100 with the remoterig. Serial 0300454 so used the additional board to be placed instead of the red strap at the control side.

The radio switches on but there is a tremendous noise, which increase if I turn any knob of the front panel.

I have tried to reduce the codec out gain as suggested in another discussion but the only result is that I have the overall volume reduced but with the very same noise.

Any suggestion on how possibly attack the problem?

Thanks in advance for any help

General discussion forum / erratic CW
« on: 2019-04-20, 08:30:18 »
hi,

been operating the remote station since yesterday.

everything seems to work but sometime the CW sends erratic signals.

The monitor is perfect but the signals sent are garbage. Lines get very long and erasing most points. Sometime it add points. Totally unreadable.

Same using the remoterig keyer or another electronic keyer through the I/O port.

Then after a while -about one hour- back to normal.

Any hints about where to start troubleshooting?

Internet connection is good.

Voice is ok.

hi,

I have everything working to the point that WSJT-X get the audio from the radio and show the traffic. Also the PTT works fine, turning the radio to TX when needed.

Now I have to bring the audio from the PC to the RJ45 AUX/MIC of the remoterig.

Taken apart a network cable and according to ts-480 mircophone pinout, I should use the contacts 5 and 6, which should be the white/blue and green.

Connected these two contact to a mono jack. White/Blue to the ground pin and green to the tip one.

As soon as I insert the jack into the PC headphone socket,  the TS-480 goes to TX.

VOX is off.

No doubt I am doing something wrong... What?????

The microphone works fine, so it shouldn't be a jumper related problem

General discussion forum / ts-480 wiring drawing
« on: 2019-04-05, 17:37:18 »
hi,

have the radio working fine in remote and would like to get to the next step, adding HRD functionality.

I have seen in some messages people referring to drawings about the connection of the TS-480 but did not find them.

Any hint?

Thanks

Configuration, RRC 1258 / problems with the set up
« on: 2019-04-02, 17:13:33 »
hi.

trying to set up the units to work with a TS-480.

I have followed the step by step instruction, keeping everything wired to the local router.

I am able to reach both devices with the web interface, configure them and save. Everything ok, included the registration with the remoterig DDNS server.

But then it just do not work, the radio do not switch on.

One strange thing happens:

even though I can reach it with the web interface, the radio device cannot be found by ping. It always goes to timeout.

The control device respond to ping.

I have verified with the internet provider and udp port are unfiltered.

I have also tried to set up the wifi -I have it on the control side only- and use the 4G network on this side, but no success.

Any clue for the troubleshooting?

Thanks in advance for any help

Configuration, RRC 1258 / using straight key o semiautomatic
« on: 2019-03-28, 21:59:07 »
hello,

new on the forum, I have tried with the search but could not find the answer. Sorry if the topic exist already.

I am awaiting the remoterig hardware for remotely connecting a TS-480.

I am using two kind of keyers:  bug -semiautomatic- and a single paddle keyer with its internal electronics. Therefore I am feeding the radio as a straight key, not using its keyer.

Will it be possible to use that in remote without passing through any PC but feeding the straight keying to the remoterig?

Thanks in advance for any help
Ferdinando
