Hello,

About 10 years ago I modified a Baofeng speaker/mic for use with Remoterig and served me well. But because it was a cheap speaker/mic, it has finally fallen apart.

I found this speaker mic made by Retevis model HK002 for Kenwood that works very well, has good audio, and I sound ok. Use in RRC radio settings, Codec inp gain 5 and Codec inp preamp to "Yes".

Attached is the mod I did. Speaker/Mic found on Amazon (Retevis HK002) , and important is to use hot glue to secure crimp, as the cable is thin and can be a bit loose in RJ45 connector.

Use Kenwood wiring for TS-2000, and additional jumper as indicated in image to pass speaker audio to pin 7.

General discussion forum / Yaesu FTM-400DR

Hello,

I have been trying to find out how the Yaesu FTM-400DR panel connects to the the radio body, but I have been unable to find any details. Is this radio possible to connect via Remoterig? It may be similar to the FTM-350 if Yaesu has followed development of the Remoterig.

Thanks!

Hello,

I would like to install a restart button on the back of both my Remoterig controls. I can wire it to the power input so power is temporarily disrupted to restart RRC Control when button is pressed. Is there a "soft restart" point on the board I can use to do this? The RRC already has a "hard reset", but a "soft restart" would do nothing more than a reboot, similar to when any setting is changed and restarted.

Thanks.

Hello,

I just assembled an easy-rotor-control. I tested it locally on a PC and the service tool sees it and runs test successfully. When I try it via Remoterig locally at home, the service tool does not see it on COM1. It works only on COM2.

I am using serial ports via USB which I have used successfully to control radios using various CAT programs. I was able to make it work with:

Mode-5 - user-def-terminator
COM2 baudrate             4800
COM2 data bits              8
COM2 stop bits              1
COM2 parity              0-off
COM2 terminator (hex)   0d

I have tried using COM1 and does not work.   What is different in COM1 to not work, when COM2 works fine?

Thanks.

General discussion forum / Absolutely total reset
« on: 2012-01-18, 01:02:55 »
Hello,
I have a friend who has an interesting situation. He wants to add another profile, but the profile has a password set and he doesnt know what it is. So we decided to do a factory reset. If we hold the reset button for a minute with the unit powereed on, and for 30 sec. with it powered off (like a router), the default profile is reset, but all the other ones are left intact. How can I fully reset ALL profiles and leave the unit totally factory default in ALL profiles?

Thanks

Hardware, Cabling, Installations / Remoterig for repair

Hello,

I have a Remoterig "radio" that does not power up. This happened after I was hit by lightning, damaging one Remoterig, but the other was not even connected to same radio, yet it will not power up. When I apply 12V to it, I can feel some components heat up as if power was being applied to them. What I think is the CPU (largest chip) feels warm to the touch. Is there a fuse? I believe the unit will power up if the "soft fuse" is replaced, but where is it and how can I fix it? Otherwise what is the cost of having the unit repaired? Since I am in FLorida, not sure if it's worth the cost of having it serviced. Let me know.

Hello,

Just to let everyone know KP2B contest club will be running in the CQWW SSB contest in the "extreme" category, running Remoterig from 4 different operating positions at the contest station in St. Croix, US Virgin Islands.

Details at:http://www.kp2b.org/16301.html

I am helping setup a contest station at KP2B and today we did lots of prep work here in Florida. One problem we found that took us hours to find is a bug in the firmware using a Kenwood TS-480. When we connected internally, there was a loud noise coming thru the audio stream, even though it was connecting and normal audio was passing. I took us hours ruling out all kinds of scenarios, and we even connected to my TS2000 and TMD700, which worked ok. It was only when we configured the TS480 that the problem showed up. We reverted to ver. 2.40 and now works perfectly. We never tested 2.41 with same scenario.

I have a non-working Remoterig for sale. Was hit by lightning, burnt power socket and board. I have a second one that was also hit, but doesn't look burned at all. Doesn't power up. Any offers? Contact me privately.

Hello,

My friend Jay Santiago (KP4EOP) has put together a nice video of his remoterig setup on Youtube:

Hello,
A friend bought a Remoterig "control" unit to try it out using my Kenwood TS2000. He already had a TM-D700 so he is able to use my radio. After helping him on the phone he can power up and listed to my radio no issues. But when he connects the mic on his side, PTT is immediately activated. We wired it same as TM-D710 minus the 8V connection. I have same exact mic he has and it works fine on my end, so wiring is not the issue. We spent hours reviewing the wiring and have concluded it must be a bad unit. We suspect the diodes in line to mic connector and jumpers must be either shorted or open. Anyone had similar issue? He will be calling to get a replacement unit since his appeared to be used as it was missing the jumpers.
