I had the username/password set on the RRC, but still had the issue. My WEB port was not standard, but not high either. I have just made a major change in the port (better add a label to the RRC).  Hopefully things will be better..

I just got home and made the port changes to the RRC and router. If this all works,  I will be really happy!!

I am seeing the Radio/Remote RRC randomly restart. No errors. No one connected.
I was first told it was the power. I have tried a couple of sources. Nothing has changed!
Could it be the USB cable that is plugged into a weak USB bus?

I was told/tested that the web interface should have a password. That didn't fix the issue. So I am back to square one.

Other suggestions or ideas?

General discussion forum / K3/Twin Local and Remote

I'm slowly getting all of remote stuff working... I am also still wanting to work local (more than likely 90% of the time).  What is the best way to have both work?? I also want the RX/TX audio to work.  Tonight I tried to fire up FT8 and there was no audio on the local sounds cards.

When I have wanted to work remote, I seem to have forgotten one cable or another. It would be nice to not have to think about making changes... Any help would be great...

Call it a brain fart on my side or post and end up with an egg in my face...
Station reconfiguration and that cable not in the pile will get you every time!!

FYI, I am in Canada listening to my station (I will get on). I have the AP client working!
Thanks for all of your GREAT support!!

The K3/0 mini displays the TERM and does not go away...
Both radios have 38400 set for the baud rate
Both RCCs have 38400, 8, N, 0, CTS/RTS Yes
When I turn on the K3/0, the K3S goes on.

Now that I am re looking at it.. I need to make the cable from the RJ45/Serial to the COM Port on thr RCC!!
Does anyone have that pin out? I know I can figure it out..

Hi Folks,
I have a K3/0 mini with a K3S setup as the K3-Twin configuration. I have a factory cable on the K3/0 mini hooked up to the RCC_Remote side. The K3S has a home brew cable hooked up to the RCC_Radio. The radio cable has been checked a couple of times. It is just a simple three wire cable (am I wrong ?).

I know that the "TERM" message usually means that there is a serial communications problem. So is there a way to test either side? The setup is on my local LAN. No firewall or router involved (as far as I know).

To the best of knowledge, both devices have the latest firmware. I am looking for any ideas or suggestions.

Not sure what I did...
Now I can't control control local with out the local cable hooked up. The remote is working fine. I can communicate. When I try to connect locally, the local port does not work.

Radio is COM 4.
The Control RCC and the Radio RCC are set to COM1 mode as Mode 7. The COM port is set for 38400, 8, N, 1. Not sure what happened, but I'm willing to try something!!

Hardware, Cabling, Installations / K3/P3 Remote and Local
« on: 2018-06-12, 01:25:12 »
Hi Folks,
I am new to the K3/P3 and K3/0 configuration. I have the K3 with the K3IOB and the P# wotking just fine. I find that if I am local, I need to have the Y cable connected to the PC connection on the P3. When I want to operate the K3 remotely, I need to switch cables. Is there a way I can have the best of both worlds??

I hope that I explained this correctly!

Is the WiFi/Ethernet bridge a better choice than the RemoteRig 1258-N??

I also used a known laptop with similar results. I know it used to work flawlessly (both devices). Of course Windows updates and etc can cause all sorts of issues. I didn't get the 1258-N sooner, there was issues with hotels and etc...

Sorry, Sitting in the house. Same network.
The setup works from another laptop, was not from the Surface Pro 4.
I connect the Laptop/Surface to the WiFi netwotk.
I share the WiFi Connection so that Ethernet port can issue IP addresses to the RCC.
When it is working, I am able to ping the RRC that is connected to the Laptop/Surface.

As I was typing this,  I just unshared the WiFi adapter, reshared, now it is working... Not sure why it had stopped.

The other issue that I am having is the audio is dropping/choppy every so often. Sometimes in a minute, other times a few minutes. I tried it just RRC to RCC and no programs running. I have not tried directly to a wired port. It seems more pronounced when I use my DNS address. It is doing it from the laptop and Surface.

I hope this is the right place to post this....
I have used this configuration before, but it has been a while...

Microsoft Surface on WiFi.
USB 3 Network Connection to the RCC
The device gets an IP address.
I can't ping it or web to it, so I can't create the connection..

I don't see any reason for it being blocked. I would love some suggestions.
