Hi,

ok I understand - if I install the adapter pcbs is the RRC1258 only useable for the IC-E2820 until I remove the adapter pcbs again?

What shop can ship the pcbs quickly? Can you suggest one?

Hi,

I am moving finally into a house but in the meantime I will have no antennas on my old flat so I want to make a step between the final moving and place the Antenna to my remote QTH and use FM Transceiver from there.

I have already my IC-7200 working there via the RRC1258 and I am thinking to use these boxes for a short time for my IC-E2820. This should be used just for few weeks - so not a big investment.
Now my question:
In the manual is written:

Be aware of that the original microphone can not be used without the HM-133 adapter boards. If you do not have them use a simple ICOM microphone like HM-103 or HM-95.

What function is involved in this "does not work"???? All functions like basic PTT and Audio or just the additional keys on the HM-133?
I do not want to buy the adapter just for a few weeks operation - can't I use the HM-133 just as a classical mic?

Please help!

Hello Roland,

sorry, but something really goes wrong.
On my PC it tells me the trial expired and on my Notebook I was not able to install it.
When the installation finish and I start the Software for setup and 1st steps I do get following error.

Can you help?

I love my hardware system (RRC-1258) but I'm regulary traveling and I cannot take the RRC all the time with me. The Software Solution with the Dongle sounds like the perfect solution.

But first I wanna test how it connects and so on.
I hope you understand and can help.

Hi,

it looks like I tested and installed the RRC Micro PC Client already a while ago, but I never really used it because I have a RRC-1258MKII standing here and I am using mainly the RS-BA1 Remote Control Software from Icom to controll my Transceiver.
But now I have the feeling the RS-BA1 is a little too slow - the update of the screen regarding the Signal strength and so on is delayed. when I am using the RS-BA1 to connect to the remote station (have a PC placed there which is connected via USB to the IC-7200 to control the transceiver too) its responding like a charme. BUT: I cannot CW remotely with the Icom Software. AND: I cannot use the remote control and the Logbook at the same time. Therefore I wanna use the RRC but I need another control software which is a little more responsive.

Therefore I wanted to test again the Micro PC Client - but after install it tells me the trial has expired. How can I test it one more time?

Please help!

This could become a problem in the near future.
I'm fighting right now with a local internet provider to get a classical IPv4 Adress to get NAT working again.

A implemantation of native IPv6 could be very helpful - and I belive it will be very soon, many other will get into the same problems.

Hi,

Today I spent around 2 hours in front of my transceiver at the "remote" location doing some tests with direct connected microphone HM-36 and the laptop with a computer microphone and the "local" RRC Unit.

When transmitting with the HM-36 I still don't get over 90W when speaking normally into the mic but still much higher than with the RRC connected locally (LAN) and speaking into the normal Computer microphone connected to the MIC connector where I maximum reach 35W power out on the tuner.
Very strange! I really can do whatever I want. Whistling in the mic produces on both ways (direct connected HM-36 and the RRC with computer mike) 122W power out on the tuner but talking or even screaming into the RRC Mike won't produce more than 36W (it's very difficult to track because the digital Display from the Tuner refreshes very fast)

Any idea where I can tweak the system?

Hello,

Yes, the PreAMP is turned on by default and is on - no change by the way (tried it with disabled) but the same change.
On sunday I will be on the local site and can do some tests with mic local and laptop with RRC.

Hi Mike,

I do get good audio reports, but the signal strength is more likely low compared to the others.
As you can see on the video the Tuner gets very seldom in the area of 100W and strangely when I use the Icom RS-BA1 Software to connect to the Remote Station (so without the Remote RIG) I reach sometimes (depending on the loudness) 112W but with Remote Rig never.

When I use the Remote Rig for CW the Values on the Tuner are also getting easily to 100W and above. Only if I'm talking and making classical SSB Calls it's low.

Perhaps we can make a test on 20m so you can give me a "real" report with Remote Rig and RS-BA1 in comparison.
20m or 40m should be ok to sweden. I will be in the HomeOffice this afternoon around 12:30 UTC.

Hi Mike,
yeah - when I whistle I get real power (122W) out but when I just speak and even when I scream into the mikrophone maximum power out is around 40W mostly around 12W.
I can change the Mic Gain on the transceiver to whatever level but it doesn't change it.
I'm not sure about the Codec Inp Gain or Codec Out Gain but I hope I can tweek this setting to achieve higher power out with normal SSB instead of just whisteling.

Hope this explains it a little more.

Hi all,

I'm running a pair of RRC-1258MKii with my IC-7200 on the remote location quite a while and I'm overall quite happy.
Only problem is - If I operate in classical SSB Mode I realize my power is not getting out.

I did a short video to explain what I'm talking about.
My settings on the RRC are mostly standard for ICOM so nothing special.

Perhaps someone can help.
