Thanks Mitch, will give it a try. Somehow I got the impression that the audio controls in the Micro Client and Windows were tied together. I'm using both XP and W7.

Not sure if there is enough gain, but I also wanted to use my Heil headset with the Micro but haven't got there yet as I'm just having too much fun with my little dongle tuning around.

I must say I really like it for the convenience.

Cheers!

For the time being, I've reconfigured my system to use the Micro Client only for the audio path to and from the station with the 1258. For control I have gone back to the N4PY control package operating through the Omni07's internal modem as this functions well, thus avoiding the use of the serial path altogether.

I suspect the high serial baud rate of 57600 required by the Omni07 was causing me much of my problem.

So far my new configuration appears top be working well with minimal latency.

Cheers!

What is the prefered headset/mic to use with the Micro Client??

I am currently using a Plantronics Gaming computer headset mainly because it has nice large ear cushions but I find the mic level to be very high. Even adjusting the Mic level slider to it's min is too much for the 1258 at the radio which works well with it's similar box at the control point and a dynamic Heil mic.

Did I miss a mic setting somewhere for the Micro Client other than the one in it's connection window? I've also cranked down the mic levels in the control program, however the problem appears to be too much mic audio coming from the PC client as it's level indicating bars appear to be max'd out much of the time.

Should I be using something other than a high output electret computer mic with the Micro Client?

Thanks for your help!

Sorry to be so late in responding, Lee.

The problem I have is that the Omni07 won't connect unless I use 57600 as it is locked there by TT in the radio.

My Dual Core XP machine with V5.11a of HRD, works well with little latency, but the later versions of HRD, have increasing latency and even loss of frquency control on my W7 i7 64 bit machine.

HRD also randomly disconnects from the radio after some use too.

Been trying to get their attention to these issues.

I don't agree with the security of on-line shopping, Mike, which is why I avoid using it.

I have had 3 instances of fraudulent card use shortly after buying stuff through on-line shops, may have been coincidence but I'm not sure as I've used cards all over the world for some 50 years and never had a fraudulent charge before.

Yes the bank did give me a refund but I had to cancel the cards and then wait for new ones to be issued. Then I had to go to all the firms that I do auto billing to the card to correct their records.

Not worth the agrivation! If I can't call or FAX the vendor, I don't buy.

I agree having stuff shipped to Canada via Post is the best way as UPS/FedEx charge exorbitant flat rate brokerage charges.

Thanks to Mikael, I now have a PC Micro!

Cheers!

Not sure what you mean by "baud" rate Lee, but I had the CAT speed set to 57600K in HRD which is what the Omni07 uses. I use a cable internet service running 8Mbs Dwn/800KbsUp.

Perhaps I missed a setting in HRD somewhere.

I apologize for the tardy response, but I was away!

While setting up my new Micro Client dongle for use with my TT Omni07, I was very disappointed with HRD's performance as it was slow, the freq display would jump around erratically, particularly on 40m and HRD would shut down unexpectedly.

Surfing around it seems as if others were having problems as well.

I noticed that some were going back to older versions of HRD so I went back to v5.11a as it was still on the Download site.

HRD is now much more responsive with the Dongle and so far I have not seen the other problems.

I thought I'd share my experience in case others were having the same issues.

Cheers!

In addition to the higher shipping and handling charges, like brokerage, when importing from Sweden, I don't particularly like sending my CC info over the internet as I have had some fraudulent charges in the past. I would prefer to call the supplier directly which is difficult to do with the distance and time difference to Sweden.

Perhaps additional dealers in NA would help as HRO don't carry many of the supporting cables and other accessories either.

I, as well others, might even buy more RR stuff if it was easier!

Just a customers view!!

Any particular reason why the Micro-PC Client is not available from HRO in States? The 1258's along with the acc cables are.

Would likely buy one if it was!!

More info for you Jan ---
I did not remove the previous version of SETUP MANAGER in my XP laptop, my mistake but it does not seem to have affected how it performed.
Using my W7 laptop with the virgin load of v1.13 MANAGER, I observed the following --

1 - With the Control RCC powered and connected to my W7 laptop with the USB cable, when Manager was opened it did not display the Manager window on the laptop screen.Disconnecting the USB cable allowed the Manager window to appear on the laptop screen -- very strange.

2 - With the USB cable still disconnected, the display indicated it had connected but "failed getting SW version" and "failed getting FW/HW version. Failed writing".

3 - Connecting the USB cable to the laptop causes the info window in the Manager display to clear of all information.

4 - Disconnecting the DC power to the RCC brings back the info in the info window of the Manager display.

5 - Repowering the RCC reads the version info as follows-
Firmware v2.41
Bootloader v1.9
Hardware v006

6 - The other 3 tabs appear to function normally until I go to the "FM Update" tab and activate "UPDATE". I then get a warning window "Unhandled exception has occurred ----  Background Worker is busy -----"

7 - Choosing "Continue" in the warning window causes Manager to freeze and become non-responsive.

8 - Un plugging USB cable from laptop closes Manager and makes the window disappear.

9 - I found my desktop XP machine had v1.10 on Manager on it so I tried it. Unlike #1 the SETUP Manager display appeared, but did not read the software versions in the RCC either. When I tried another tab Manager became unresponsive until I pulled the USB cable.

10 - Trying the RCC with my XP laptop and v1.13 of Manager resulted in similar performance to the W7 machine.

The RCC's have been in service for some 8 months using COM 2 as a transparent transport for serial CAT traffic to my remoted Omni07 using HRD without any major problems and were working well before I decide to update the firmware. Could the RCC software be corrupterd in some way and still function using HRD??

Anything I could try next -- I'm totally puzzled!

Thanks for the quick reply Jan!
Let me provide some more detail as my choice of words may have not have been descriptive enough.

1 - The modems are not connected to the internet but are on my work bench with the laptop.

2 - The laptop is connected to the modems with the USB cable provided by RR.

3 - SETUP MANAGER appeared to load successfully on my laptops. On the W7 machine, being a new load Manager loaded along with the 5 drivers, on the XP machine, the drivers did not load as I suspect they were still in the machine from v1.10.

4 - Without the USB cable connected to the modem,Manager appeared to function normally.

5 - Connecting the USB cable to the modem causes Manager to clear the info window of the display. (indication of connection disappears)

6 - Leaving the USB cable connected to the modem and interupting the DC supply to the modem, causing a reboot results in the info window of Manager to come alive and give the software version info. It will not though allow a firmware update under the Update tab, as it appears to hang up searching for something even though the new firmware location is available in the window.

7 - The modem used was the control modem. I did not try the other one in fear of corrupting it.

I would appreciate any assistance as I can't see what I may be doing wrong. I never had any programming issues with any of the 4 modems I have until now.

Thanks for your help, greatly appreciated!

Cheers!

In preparation to update my firmware in my 1258's from v2.41 to the current v2.57, I also updated Setup Manager from v1.10 to v1.13. Everything appeared to go well until I tried to connect to the modem which it wouldn't do. Strangely it did connect if I killed the power to the modem and rebooted it but that's about all it would do.

Am I trying to make to much of a leap in the software versions? Do I need to use an older version of Setup Manager to load the older versions? Do I need to load each version of firmware in succession?

Any thoughts of where I may have messed up??

I used two different laptops, one bootcamped core duo Mac with XP and the other a Core 2 W7 machine. Both behaved the sameway. Previous version of Setup Manager on the Mac worked well before it was scrubbed to load V1.13. The w7 machine was a virgin load of Setup Manager.

Would appreciate any assistance!

Thanks for your help in advance.

Cheers!

If you could have a look into it Mike, I'd be happy to give you access to my Omni remote, I can post the access details to you directly. The N4PY software is available on his site, for the Omni it is the Pegasus Plus package and it is useable for at least a week I think but I suspect you could contact Carl for more time.

It would be great if I could get this working as it works well before it freezes.

Thanks for your help!
