General discussion / Windows 11 not recognizing 1247B
« on: 2022-04-29, 01:47:33 »
I've been using the 1247B successfully for a number of years.
All of a sudden, when I connect the 1247B to my microsoft surface pro 6, with Windows 11, it is not showing up as a sound device.

I tried the same device with my Dell Desktop, and Windows 11, and it works fine.

Sound device setup with Windows can be a challenge.  Any suggestions would be appreciated.

General discussion forum / Re: RC1216H Port Issue
« on: 2020-09-02, 23:55:03 »
Hi Mitch,
I finally had time to focus on this and now have it working.  I also now understand that I can get in using the same remote ddns as the 1258, but with a different port added via a colon.

My problem turned out to be very simple, but not so easy to identify.  I didn't think to check the ip gateway.  It was set at 192.168.0.1.  After awhile, I compared the settings for the 1216H with the RRC1258 and saw that the 1258 gateway was the same as my router   192.168.1.1

When I changed the gateway on the 1216 h to 192.168.1.1 the problem was solved .   My isp apparently has limited ports available, but 24 is working, and I'll find another port to use for the 1258.
My next challenge is to set up the SPE software so that I can access the full capability.

Thanks for your help

I've been able to set up the RC1216H to work with my Expert 1.3K amp and it works fine internally.  I am not able to access it through my firewall.  My remote rig uses port 80, and I understand that I probably need a separate port for the 1216H, but do not know how to set that up.  Or perhaps I have a different issue that I'm not aware of.

:-*  Mike, that was it!  Disconnected the USB cable from the amp and it works.  Wow, the little things.....
Thanks.

Is the "serial" end the male end, as in the manual.  I'm seeing Female(2,3,5) and Male (5,7,8)
Thanks

I just installed a new RC1216H for the purpose of remote control of my Expert 1.3 amp.  I had purchased the cable from Expert when I bought the amp a few years ago.
Installation of the RC1216 seems to be working, and I'm showing the screen for the amp, with a flashing green light.  But I have no response when I connect the cable to the amp.  I've re-read instructions for both the amp com port and the RC 1216.  Can't figure out what I'm doing incorrectly.  Wondering if I have a bad cable.

Brilliant.  I now have "pot" control to change the profile from home wifi or mobile using cellphone hot spot.
Thank you very much for your rapid responses.  With your help, I've developed a new understanding about how the parts work together.

Of course, you are correct.  When I turned DHCP back on, it works fine.  I need to do a better job of logging settings so I don't keep forgetting what works!

But here's another question for you.  Is there a way to install two profiles in the control head as I do in my Android Nano app?  If I'm home, and use my router and wifi, I can only connect using 192.168.1.228.
When I'm using my cellphone wifi, I connect to base using the dynamic dns assigned to me.  I have two profiles in the Nano app that makes this easy.  Can I somehow do this with the control 1258 so that I can set it up in my home office?  Now, I have to go to the station, connect to my ethernet and program the dns name back and forth.  I only have ethernet in one spot in my house, at the router in my ham shack.

Thank you Mitch.  That solved the problem.  But I do note that in order to change the dns setting from the local address of the radio 1258 back to the dynamic dns setting assigned to me, I had to "turn off" the dhcp.  Does that make sense? In any case, even with dhcp now turned off, wifi connection works as it should.

I've successfully used remote rig for three years in all configurations. IC7100, laptop, and most often my android phone.  The system works fine with my nano app on the Pixel3, but recently it will not work with the control head and wifi.

I normally use the control head via wifi, usually with my Verizon cellphone on wifi hotspot.  This has been a great option for mobile operation.  I hadn't used the unit in a few months, and now it will not connect to wifi.  It scans and identifies the hotspot when using the setup manager, and sees my hotspot, my  home wifi network as well as printers, etc.  But, it will not connect to the remote ddns server using the Verizon hotspot, nor will it connect to my local wifi using 192.168.1.228.  The system works fine when I connect the control head via ethernet to the router, which is also connected to the base unit. 192.168.1.227 connecting to 192.168.1.228 (base unit).   I think I've tested all options.  Suggestions would be appreciated.

Thank you Mitch.  Yes, I changed the IP to that of the Radio RRC and it worked right away.  I should have thought of this, but it's been almost three years since I set up the system, and forgot some of the basics!  In addition, I believe that my older modem did allow me to get through to the Radio RRC on the same network by using the xxxxxx.ddns.remotefig.com  ip.

My ADSL router was recently reset.  I've managed to open up the proper ports, and remote rig is working well with one strange exception.
I can only access remote rig from outside of my local/home network.  Using the Android app, I can operate the station when wifi on the phone is turned off, and I access via Verizon Wireless.  Works fine.  And if I'm away, I can also access via whatever wifi is available.
But when I'm home, I cannot connect via wifi. I've tried two different wifi routers, with no success.  Remote rig is connected via ethernet to my DSL modem, as is my Google wifi router.
Prior to this, I was able to access my remote rig on my home wifi network.
Would hope someone can advise.

I also look forward to a solution to this issue.  The best solution would be to add a memory function to the nano app, but I do not get the sense that this is in the works.
Otherwise, I find using my cellphone with the nano app on HF works extremely well.

Thanks Mike.  After you reset the license it's working fine.
I did try to buy an "add on" to use the app on my Nexus 9.  Not sure if the order was received, or if it will even work on this android tablet.
The call is W2HDI and the license key is 4a35
Thanks
