Thank you VERY MUCH Mitch.

I held the reset for 60 seconds to be absolutely sure :-)  That did reset the RRC, so I could make the correct network settings.  It's functioning perfectly now!   (I guess my 5 second reset before, just wasn't long enough).

Thank you for your help and patience!

(It still has a strange 10 digit serial number looking from the setup software - but hey, it's working).

Thank you for mentioning that.  I did try the reset button on back.  But not for 30 seconds.  I'll give that a whirl.

Thank you Mitch,

Thank you Mitch.

I have tried that a number of times and the RRC will not show up on the network.  I've tried using DHCP or specific network settings (IP: 192.168.0.169, subnet: 255.255.255.0, gateway & server at 192.168.0.1) and rebooting the RRC each time.

I can't get the RRC to show up on the network.  That also means, it can't connect to the remote RRC.  There is something strange with this RRC control box.  The remote RRC box will connect to the network just fine.  My original set of RRC boxes still work perfectly.

It is still really odd to me, that in the setup software, the serial number is 10 digits long (when it really should be 5 digits, looking at the serial number physically printed on the RRC).

The computer guy/programmer in me, thinks that before it came to me, somehow the network settings got really scrambled and that some of those settings, that we cannot see are still messed up.

Thanks for trying to help me.

Configuration, RRC 1258 / Config/Setup - No Devices Found!
« on: 2019-09-27, 06:22:53 »
Sorry if I did not pick the right forum to post this.

I already have been successfully using Remote Rig with my Elecraft radio for a couple of year.  I just bought another set of Remote Rig boxes, to have as backup.  All of my cables and such have been working fine.  I’m just dropping in the “new” box to setup.

I cannot get my “new” Remote Rig control box to show up on my network.

I can successfully access it via USB.  I even upgraded the firmware (from 2.91 to 2.95) by USB.  So I know I’m not totally locked out, which is good.  However, when I try “Find Devices” it never sees the control box, just the result of “No Devices Found!”.

An interesting fact, that I think will help someone, in figuring out my problem, was the very odd settings (had through USB) for the network settings on the Remote Rig on first start.  The serial number (on screen) was 10 digits long!  (the actual serial number on the box, is only 5 digits long).  The MAC address looks like appropriate hex numbers.  The IP Address, Subnet Mask, Gateway and DNS Server addresses were all 255.255.255.255

I changed all of the values to appropriate values that I’ve been using already in my original Remote Rig box, but can’t see it on the network (“No Devices Found”).  I’ve also tried changing to DHCP, with no success.

I’ve tried searching the forums here and the only relevant thread I could find was this one: http://www.remoterig.com/forum/index.php?topic=5632  I tried the instructions there from Mitch, but they didn’t get me any success.

Any suggestions on what I can do?

Thanks – 73
