Hi Mitch,

I am using port 5060 for sip but I thought that port was just for security and hand shake etc not for audio in the remote rig. Easy enough to change for a test.

Thanks for the reply.

Hello to the group.

When I operate remote I use my laptop with a network bridge set through windows to provide a link from the wifi to a lan connection for the 1558mkII. Using my toshiba laptops running windows 7 and Vista this works with any issues. I tried the same thing with the Ausu notebook running windows 8.1 and the network bridge. Using this computer the TS-480 will turn on and is functional in all respects except no receive audio comes through, transmit audio is fine. I figured maybe it was firewall issue so I went into the advanced firewall area and created new rules for Port 11000 udp and tcp both inbound and outbound. Still no good. I didn't have to do anything special to have it work with my other two laptops.

Any ideas?

I created an account with Dyndns and when I enter the info in the router, wrt54g, it comes back with a invalid domain name message. I cut and pasted it right out of Dyndns account page. Syntax:
xxxyyyyyyy.dyndns-home.com
I tried http:// in front of it and also / after it. Nothing makes it happy.
Not sure what is wrong.

Thanks Mike. I'll give it a go with the host info on the router and see how it works.

I'm in the  process of setting up my 1258 and will also be adding a Digi TS2 serial server.

If I enter my DynDns host name in the router will that serve both the 1258 and Digi TS2 or do they need different names?

Next step will be entering the DNYdns host info and see if it works from my son in laws office internet connection.

Thanks for the help.

Configuration, RRC 1258 / Failed firmware update on 1258
« on: 2011-05-24, 06:32:19 »
I just received the units today and attempted to update the firmware per the manual.

I down loaded and installed Microbit Setup manager V1.9 to my Toshiba laptop running Windows Vista 32 bit.

The manager will connect to the units, via USB, and read there current versions, V2.33.

I down loaded the latest version V2.39, extracted the files to my desk top.

Selected the file on the manager and hit update. (C:\Users\Stevie\Desktop\RRC-1258-CRC_v2.39_2011-05-23.bin) After a few seconds I get the following:
Failed programming new firmware error code 31

I don't think I did anything wrong.

Help!!

Guy,

I looked at the Remoterig switch but I didn't need rotor support, I have Rotor EZ with RS232 installed in my CDE box, and the DLI switch has 8 relays vs 5 which gives me some extra contacts to use for house functions.
Thanks for your reply.

Brad,

That's good news. I planned on changing the port number for security and Remoterig suggests it also in there manual.

I'm looking to use a web hosting switch to control antenna selection and other functions in the shack and house. The switch is made by DLI, see link below. The RCC manual mentions web hosting devices should be moved off port 80 to port 8000 as an example.

My question is has anybody used this switch or any web hosting devices and had any problems?

Configuration, RRC 1258 / Re: Wireless Internet Connection
« on: 2011-04-25, 22:56:55 »
If I understand this thread correctly I should be able to log onto a public wireless internet connection, ie hotel, and plug a 1258 into my laptop lan port. Then set up a network bridge via Vista between the 1258 and the internet. Is this a correct assumption? And if so is the speed still ok to support the audio channel?

General discussion / Re: RCC control output

Thanks Mike. I'm still in the planning mode so I haven't purchased a unit yet. So when I do it should come with the latest firmware I would assume.

General discussion / RCC control output

When using the PC client/RCC setup is there any way to get a control output from the RCC via the PC client? It would be useful to control power to the remote radio.

I'm new to the forum and looking to purchase a RRC 1258 MKIIs RCC Micro package but have question.
The package comes with the MKIIs version but will the client software and hardware work with the mono channel version?
