I'm really trying to use this device more often as it is more convenient as I travel.   

If there is anything you wish me to test, that would be great. 

Being able to change audio sources on the fly would be nice as well as I often monitor 6M and then put the headphones on when it opens.

I am using the latest RRC Micro, and it doesn't seem to retain mic gain settings.

Everytime I start it, the mic gain is in the middle.  My normal setting is at about 20%.  Is there anyway to have it remember the settings.  This is becoming a problem as the application keeps crashing (more on this  later), and when I restart it, my mic gains are off.

Also, is there anyway to change audio sources (speakers especially) while connected.  When  monitoring HF, I am on the speakers.  When on the air, I switch to headphones.  However, this requires me to disconnect, change the source and then reconnect.    As an example,  Skype allows me to do this on the fly.

I really don't want to set up Virtual Audio Cable to handle the audio streams if I don't have to.

I think you'll find it isn't very much and no different that using VOIP for a phone.

I am a foot switch person and I want to know if there is a 'hack' to add a foot switch to the RRC micro.

I opened it up and the switch is a 4 pin switch.  I can add my own pig tail to that, but I need to know if I need to deal with both sets of contacts or can I just parallel a single set of contacts.

Roland and I spent a lot of time debugging this, however it turned out to be an install issue.

I had to uninstall and reinstall a few times and it started to work.

I am not getting audio on a local test ...

Both the RRC micro are on the same subnet.
RRC Micro is 1.66
RRC Control is 1.72
Radio is TS480
HRD is controlling the radio - working
RTP is green
The correct audio devices are working  and I have tried both the local speakers, a USB head  and the headset plugged into the 'fob'
SIP port is 7002 (configured on both ends).  I have to use a non-standard sip port as I have VOIP phones
The bar graph is green showing that I am receiving audio

Nothing is on Mute that I can see.

Could it be that my radio control head itself is still connected to the RRC at a remote location and when I tell HRD to power up, that RRC Radio is connecting, however on the INFO screen, it does show it connected to the computer with the Micro on it.

On the INFO screen, it does say Connection Status is faulty(see below), but there is no additional information.

Hi All

I have created a Yahoo Group to discuss remote bases in general and I believe that many from this group can benefit from further integration of their Remote Rig to other tools that other hams use to make their station complete.

That group is more about the entire remote base solution, power management, antenna management, RS232 communication and much more.

I ran JARTs this weekend with RemoteRig and my TS480 and it ran wonderfully.  I did not use the RTTY interface on my RR, as I ran N1MM MMTTY on a remote computer (quad core atom - worked perfectly).   I have a Rig Expert TI5 on the remote computer connected to the TS480.

You can do this if you add an Elecraft KRC2 to the installation and it will do your band switching for you.

I've been working on this issue at 2 sites, and you might be seeing a very real internet problem called Buffer Bloat.

Short story, is there are only a few firewalls that I  know of that can deal with it.  One is the Astaro and I have reduced it in my DD-WRT buffers by reducing the Q sizes.

You have to experiment and change the values on every interface on your DD-WRT router.

This really won't be fixed until they actually fix it in the Linux kernels they use to run a lot of the home routers we use today.  The RFC is at http://queue.acm.org/detail.cfm?id=2209336.

Essentially, if you router is busy, your TCP packets (other traffic) don't get correctly throttled resulting in your real time UDP packets being buffered way to long.

Buffer bloat is well discussed on the internet and regardless of your bandwidth or latency values, you  may still have issues.

Interesting as that file is being reported in the event viewer for the Micro crash.

I do have the debug files.  Where do you want them sent to?  I can recreate this at will.  All I have to is start the Micro, connect to the far end and wait.  It just takes about 30 minutes.

This is a pretty plain system and I use Security Essentials for AV.
