Hello All

Wanted to put this out there and see if anyone had any issues with the following setup, I currently run a RR with an Icom 7100 but wanted to add a Kenwood D710 to my Remote Shack too so I will be purchasing a 2nd set of 1258's to run a d710.    Has anyone here run a d710 and had good results?  Does it still have dual receive and would a 2nd RR be any issue at all?

Thank you

Stuart

Thanks very much for the reply to my post.  I am using a G5RV with an LDG tuner and the RR auto antenna tuner.  Not sure if it  will help or not but I made a video a while back detailing my RR shack and put it on Youtube here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QrQmaGm8UaM     Maybe it might show something I can't see.  I guess I should remove the RR from between the radio and switcher first of all and maybe add ferrite rings to the switcher outputs?    Does that sound like a good plan?   I was trying to use 10 mtrs earlier and the radio just shuts right off when I tx on high power.

Any other suggestions?

Thanks

Stuart

Hello All

Need a little help please, I have recently installed a IC-7100 and have had some issues on HF.  Long story short if I TX on HF on full power the radio either locks up or shuts off.  Has anyone had any issues like this before please?   It's not so bad on low power but don't want to run a QRP station.

I used to have similar issues on my 706 RR setup the display use to go all strange.

Hope someone can help please

Thank you

Stuary

Hello All

A few months ago whilst at my remote QTH in England I setup a coax relay using the IO Settings (I/O - Out 0 mode on/off0) so using a reed relay I am able to switch the coax relay on/off from the RR GUI.  I have been trying since to make a switch from the IO port at the control end but without any joy.    Can anyone please explain to me what I need to do to be able to have a switch to change the Out0 from on to off?    Do I need a circuit or can I use the wires from the control IO port.   The relay switches fine using the on off button via GUI but a switch in the shack would be great.

Thank you

Stuart

Paul, thank you so much, it's 2am UK time and after a bit of playing around I finally got it working with a little help from some friends.  Thanks again for all your help.

Can you please just confirm to me what I would need to do at the control end to switch it at the IO at the radio end please?

Thanks

Stuart

Thanks so much Paul, think I understand now, can you please confirm it is the Out open collector pins on the IO that I would use, like pin 5 for example is Out0 Open Collector,  would this be the right pin to use with the ground?

Thanks for your reply Paul,  can you please tell me if it's possible to use a switch or something at the control end via the I/O port to make/break the relay at the radio end I/O port?  Or do I need to use the web GUI to switch the relay?

I am very green when it comes to this but what pins on the I/O port do I use on the relay?

Thank you, sorry for all the questions, I am slowly getting there.

Thanks

Stuart

Hi All

Thanks to Mike (again) he pointed me in the direction of using a coax relay to switch between two VHF antennas I have (beam and vert) and I now have a 12v coax relay.

I could use an IP Power switch but heard that you could use the I/O port on the RR Radio side to power and switch it!  Is this possible for me to do and has anyone done it that might be able to point me in the right direction please?  I have searched here and found some information but it was a little too advanced for what I am looking to do.

Appricate any help

Thanks

Stuart

Just a quick update, I had my doubts about my ERC interface so I wired pins 2 and 3 back around again and tested it and it does work, no problems reading and calibrating so its something to do with the RR that I can't see right now.    Not sure if this makes a difference but I am using it over my Lan at the moment whilst setting the rotator and ERC/RR up.   Does that help anymore?

Thank you

Hi Joe

Sorry for the delay, thank you very much for your help with the ERC connections, I have it all wired up and have double checked the connections but keep getting the message "no erc answering on port com1"  ,  did you have any teething problems when you got it setup?  I have the ERC all wired as per your guide going to the com1 on the radio RR and downstairs I have the serial cable going from com1 to the PC's com1 serial connection.

For the RRC Setup serial connections that you gave me is this just for the control side? What about the radio serial side, I tested it both ways but can't get a answer from com1, just about to get a serial to USB cable to see if that makes a difference.

Any ideas?

Thank you

Stuart

Configuration, RRC 1258 / Remote Rig + ERC + Com1?
« on: 2013-05-21, 23:29:31 »
Hello

Hope some of you Remote Rig owners might be able to help me please. I am
looking to use the ERC (Easy Rotator Controller) with my RR setup but I have used Com2 with a Cat
interface for IC706mk2G.

Speaking to Mike he said that com1 is the same as com2 only the pin config is different from com2 in the radio box, it's a female dsub and pin 2 and 3 are shifted compared to com2.

Has anyone managed to setup Com1 with the ERC?

Thank you

Stu
