The WAN IP Address of my remote modem changes frequently for some reason.  Don't know if it is initiated by the modem or by the network.

When that happens the SIP address in the RADIO Settings panel of the Home control RR Box does track or change to the new IP address at the remote......resulting in failed login.  My procedure is to use Teamviewer to access the remote PC and query the remote router using 192.168.2.1 to discover its new WAN IP address and then manually enter it into the Radio Settings panel back at the Home station RR box.

Is this what I should be doing or am I missing something??

I have a K3 remote and have added a KAT500 (there is no KPA 500 - yet).  I thought I needed  E850463 cable and Y adapter cable to allow the K3 to control the KAT500.  I installed the cables but have discovered that the K3 will not turn on.  If I turn it on manually the remote control works fine.

The RR Box cable is plugged into the ACC connector with a DB15M connector that only has three wires in it according to the diagram,  That cable runs to the IO port on the RR box --- one of the three wires is pin 8 which is the pin that takes a  ground to power on  the K3.  A Y splitter is needed to allow connection of the KAT500 and the RR Box to the  K3 ACC connector at the same time.

The Y cable purchased from Elecraft has a VGA designation on the label and I have verified that there is no continuity from Pins 8 in each female end to the male end  ..   I checked the E850463 cable and there is no connection on PIN 8 between the male and female DB15 connectors!.... So the Elecraft Y cable and E850463 cable  are  NOT compatible with the RR box and the KAT500 combo.  There is no pin 8 connection to facilitate remote turn on/off the K3.

I will need to wire up my own plug it seems.

Still working on understanding how to use the features of the RR units.  Are there any application notes or basicinfo on how to use the TTL feature of the Radio RR Box.  Using a K3 Mini here and remote K3

While remote K3 radio is ON and functioning the STATUS page at remote RR box show radio status OFF.  Why does it show as OFF when radio is actually ON.?   Is that the normal indication ??...STATUS will say OFF when radio is ON and also OFF...no change?  I had not noticed this previously ...

Also what is the purpose of the DISCONNECT button?  .. on this page when the radio is actually ON but status shows radio as OFF...

Same DISCONNECT button is not at CONTROL status page.

General discussion forum / K3 Remote No SSB Power Out
« on: 2016-01-11, 10:57:47 »

For some reason I have no power output on SSB...using K3 mini with remote K3 and RR Boxes.
I have rPNL.H BIAS selected and MIC GAIN at 12.   SSB was working and I have not changed anything in past couple of days.   Headset CM-500  plugged into the SPKRS and MIC jack on the side of the K3.   Also have Heil...same issue.
Last night I tried to work JT65 on 160 and could not get any output.
Full power ok on Cw.  Receiver audio sounds normal.
If I use the audio files in M1-M4 all is normal and they play and I get RF out.

K3 Utility tells me that FL1 FRQ is -.77   also same on the CONFIG menu ....I have not changed  that setting but I have seen a few posts elsewhere that claim if the OFFSET is "off" too much there will be no SSB power out.

When I turn on the MONITOR and press XMIT I can faintly hear my audio like in a barrel.  So the mike works...

Anyone have any clues as to what is going on?

We are in Ottawa for Xmas and have  K3 mini with me.   Using a strong wifi signal in the house and am connected to the network.  I have a web cam at my remote site in VO1 land and I can see that the K3 turns on but after a few seconds turns off again and I get the audible alarm here at control end.   Also have flashing yellow light on the AUX/MIC jack....the  connection does not complete.

Have not tried hard wired Ethernet connection here as there is no jack in the furnace room!!

What do I look for on the router here assuming I can get into the menu....can anyone help ....just here for a few days.

General discussion forum / RF killing RR box at Remote.
« on: 2015-11-25, 02:09:55 »
Still refining the remote site configuration and have discovered that  stray RF  is killing the RR box or the Ethernet link at the TPLink switch.  The Actiontec R3000 router is in another building 150ft away ... so I doubt that local RF would be impacting at that distance from the antennas.

It is only happening on 160-80-40-30.  But it wasn't happening at the start of construction of the station elements.  I have rearranged wiring and location of  the web power bar a couple of times.  Have installed StarTech shielded Ethernet cables from the tPlink switch to devices (RR Box; Afedri SDR; Digital Loggers Power Bar; PC)...I thought that they were acting as antennas but that doesn't appear to be the case.  Have also wrapped the TPlink SG108D switch in Al foil.

The RR box is powered from its own 12vdc shielded PS (not a wall wart) but the red/black power wire is about 5-6ft long.  Plan to move the PS next to the RR Box and shorten the lead to a few inches. Will also remove the PS from the web bar and plug it into a separate wall outlet as I never want to power it down anyway.  Will also add some snap on ferrite to the cable from the RR box to the K3.     There is No ground on the RR Box.  ...should I add one ??

On 160/80/30  can only use 30-35W; On 40 can get to 50w .  80-10 antenna is HF6V with 1.3-1.6 SWR on low band ends.  20-15-10 can run full 100W.  160 inv L with FCP and inline choke.

Anyone else experiencing RF knocking the RR box offline?

General discussion forum / Device Disconnected message

Still trying to figure out why Microbit Setup Manager awlays shows RRC to be DEVICE DISCONNECTED.  My desktop uses Win10.
I have set new inbound and out bound rules for Setup Manager in the Win10 Firewall and I have unticked the Power Management boxes in Control Panel Device Manager for all the USB hubs.....I have even performed a refresh install of Win10 which caused the loss of most installed apps but not files.
When I unplug and plug in the USB cable I hear the tone indicating that a device has been attached.  Using FW 2.87 in the RRC and latest 1.28Version of Setup manager.

When I run Setup manager I get the DEVICE DISCONNECTED message in the FW/HW tab .  If I click on Net Info/find and then click Find Devices
the program finds the RRC and I can re-enter the correct IP.  I can also browse to the home page of the RRC by clicking BROWSE and also by entering the IP
in the address bar in the EDGR browser.  So the RRC is connected to the network OK but apparently no to the PC via USB....have tried back panel and front panel USB ports.  Have also configured port forwarding in the router for the IP and port 80.

What else should I look for ??   Anybody have any clue?....In the listing of services running SERVICES.MSC  there a very long lost of features to ENABLE or DISBALE etc...I wonder if there is something there that is not running that is preventing recognition of the RRC....have no clue what to look for.

Running K3/0 Mini and K3 new install.

I am in the midst of trying to find out why CW keying has changed from normal good quality keying to erratic and jumbled.  When first installed about two weeks ago all worked fine but something has changed.  Operated SSCW with no problems..but now last day or so ....  Can only send two dots and third one is "stunted" ....best term I can think of....and a longer series of dots cannot send H or 5 at all.... .....dashes are sent in groups of three.  Keying from M1...M4 is Ok coming directly from K3 and not going over the link.  Will be driving to the site tomorrow to check....

In meantime is someone willing to share with me their RR/C and RR/R settings so that I can double check where I am...I have been changing settings and did not keep original list.

General discussion forum / RRC Keying using WiFi Connection
« on: 2015-11-14, 17:51:10 »
I have the Wifi board installed in the RRC unit .  I usually have the RRC plugged in via Ethernet cable but plan to take it and the K3 Mini on the road.

When I connect via wifi I am seeing the following.

When using N1MM+ sending from the paddle (plugged into the RRC) the keyed dots are not clean and erratic.  Sound same if I use the keyboard ESM mode in N1MM.  Useless for on air.   I have  adjusted the COM port speed in N1MM Config area to 9600 and also 4800 but no change...(how could there be when the speed set in the K3 for comms over the link is 38400)

However if I send from the K3 Mini  Memory Slots on the keying is perfect...same as when RRC plugged into the Ethernet cable.

So what is difference sending from the memories vs. sending with the paddle or the keyboard??  Should any settings in RRC or RR R be changed for CW when connected via wifi.  The wifi signal  is -50db .

I have K3/0 and K3 remote.  I am using an Elecraft serial USB cable connected to COM1(COM7) to read freq and mode when using N1MM+.  While setting up for CWSS I just discovered that the N1MM+ enter key (using ESM mode) will PTT the rig but no CW is sent.
The rig stays keyed up for the period of the contents of the function key being sent by ESM.    I am connected to COM1 on the RRC unit.

Must be a setting that in correct state?

General discussion forum / Win 10 and Microbit Setup Manager
« on: 2015-10-30, 01:49:11 »
Does anyone know if there is a problem with Win 10 and Microbit manager?....in my case I can never connect to the RRC Control and virtual com ports are never created.  I have reinstalled Setup Manager several times and also reinstalled Win 10...same result.

Yes I have the USB cable plugged in  and have removed Power Manageent from each USB Root hub.

This is happening on my main shack PC where I want to run N1MM+ and DXLab  suite.

General discussion forum / RRC Control DEVICE DISCONNECTED
« on: 2015-10-26, 00:53:09 »
I have situation here where I want to setup the RRC Control unit on two computers.

The desktop machine is running WIN 10 and the other is a laptop with WIN 8.1

The install of MICROBIT setup and virtual serial ports has worked ok on both PC's.   The  RRC box will connect all OK to the Win 8.1 laptop .... and I have finally been able to configure the CAT option via the RRC USB port to key the K3Mini  from N1MM on this machine.  Also working for FREQ and MODE in DX COMMANDER.

However It will not connect to the Win 10 desk top machine which is my core shack PC...always says DEVICE DISCONNECTED.

I can BROWSE the RRC server web page from both machines so it probably doesn't matter if the DEVICE DISCONNECTED message is there on the WIN 10 box...I am just wondering why it does not connect.
