General discussion forum / Re: 1258 MKIIS locked up again
« on: 2011-05-10, 04:00:51 »
Jan, no I did not receive any replies.  I have checked my SPAM filter and it is not there.

Yes, the red light still flashes when the USB cable is removed.

Yes, I used Setup Manager to change to DHCP.  The firmware is 2.35.

I did a search of the manual and do not see "long reset" mentioned.  I have held the reset button for 10 seconds with no response.  Do I need to hold it longer than 10 seconds?

Thanks,

Do you have any software to unlock my 1258?  It was working fine until I changed the IP from static to DHCP.  Now, the red light flashes constantly and Set Up Manager is unable to "see" the 1258 even with a direct connection to the USB port.  The driver shows that it is working properly, but there is no communication and Set Up Manager does not recognize the 1258.  I have tried the reset button on the 1258 thinking that the reset button would put the 1258 back to its original state but that is not happening.

What else can I try to make it work?

Also, I still have not gotten my micro RRC client to work correctly.  The audio cycles on and off as the buffer bar moves from left to right.  Does the new software update fix this problem?

Thanks for any help you might have.

Mike, yes, this is Win7 and I have tried a buffer multiplier as high as 4-5 with the same result...the packet size has always stayed at 40 ms because it will not work at all when set to 20 ms.  Is there anything else to adjust?

Thanks,

My RRC-1258MKIIs works perfectly when the two units are connected, however, when I remove the CONTROL RRC-1258 and try to use the Micro PC Client, the audio sounds like it is on the "wrong sideband" and the audio buffer bar cycles to the right constantly.  When it reaches the right side, the audio stops until the bar starts again on the left.  I find that I must put the Jitter Size on 100 to keep the audio playing as long as possible but it still cycles when the buffer bar reaches the right side of its scale.

What could be wrong?

Thanks,

Roland,
If the delayed program start up does not concern us, are there any other problems with leaving SP1 installed on Win7?  My RRC Client has the delayed action but that would not bother me if I could get the audio stable.  I see the audio buffer bar moving to the right and then the audio stops until the bar restarts on the left.  The speed at which this happens depends on the jitter settings.  If I remove the RRC Client and simply use the 1258 MKIIS, the audio is perfect.

General discussion forum / Re: How to use VOX?

Mike,
Thanks for that answer.  I tried turning on the RTP TX but I get terrible feedback on the signal.  When I check the continuity between the Mic Ground and the Chassis Ground, they are the same.  Isn't there supposed to be some isolation between the Mic Ground and the Chassis Ground?

Thanks,

I have everything (CW, Control, RX audio and TX audio) running with my K3 but I can not figure out how to do VOX.  When I key the PTT line, my audio sounds great but if I do NOT key the PTT line, VOX does not work.

What am I missing?

Thanks for any ideas.

As an update, I figured out how to connect everything and get it running.  I received an email offline that told me the RADIO OFF message ONLY applies to installations using detachable face plates and does NOT apply to those of us using REMOTERIG as a pass through RS-232 connection.  I know have my K3 running CW over my home network very well and I am pleased with the performance.  My next step in testing will be to install it at my remote station about 60 miles from my house.

I will write up my installation and submit it to SM2O in case he would like to post a K3 installation in English.

General discussion forum / Re: Webpage Status RADIO OFF
« on: 2010-04-09, 22:49:17 »
Mike,
As further clarification of my setup, I am simply trying to use HRD on the Control RRC to operate a K3 on the Radio RRC.  I have the Radio Settings on Transparent for both the Control RRC and the Radio RRC.  I have the Serial settings on Mode 4 for Radio RRC and Control RRC.

Is this correct?

Also, as a separate test, I attached a cable to COM2 on the Radio RRC and ran the cable to a COM port on my PC.  I used two different terminal programs to see if I saw any output from COM2.  I am seeing nothing from the port.

Is this normal or do I have a defective unit?

Thanks for a reply,

General discussion forum / Webpage Status RADIO OFF
« on: 2010-04-09, 05:14:35 »
I just received my RRC-1258 MKII system today and I am stuck.  The Webpage Status says RADIO OFF on the Radio RRC unit no matter what baud rate I set.  I assume that the RADIO RRC would show RADIO ON even without connecting to the CONTROL RRC over my network.  Is that correct?  I am not worried about SIP or Mic/AUX connection yet until I get the Radio RRC talking to the rig (K3).  I have tried my own cable with pins 2,3 and 5 as well as an "off the shelf" cable and the same result so I don't believe I have a cable problem.  I can control the K3 with the same cable using HRD but I am getting no communication via RRC.  The rig is supposed to be connected to COM2, correct?  I set the Radio and Serial baud rate the same per the instructions but still no luck.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,
