If you already remote control the TS-480 with the control panel you only need to add the CAT control cable from RRC Com2 to the radio CAT connector. If you start from 0 you need mic/ptt, speaker and CAT connections as described under Kenwood in  general in the manual.'

Hej

Hi

No the IC-706 need to be connected to a Control-panel to work. With the TS-480 you can do it. TS-480 do not need to be connected to a control panel to work. The radio body can work stand alone.

I agree with Mitch. It must be a network problem. There are no other reports like yours. I have 4 Control-RRCs on my desktop here connected to a 8 port Netgear switch and a Netgear WNR3500 router and I have never had any problem to connect to them. Im not a member of the Microsoft fanclub so I never use IE but I tested now with IE and it's no problem with IE either. Try to change switch or router if Mitch suggestions do not give result.

Hi

As you can see the cmd channel ( the one which transfer the data to the display) is blocket some where between the Radio-RRC and Control-RRC. That's why the Control panel is not working. Check that you have the latest firmwares in your routers (both ends), there are lot of buggy routers out there. You can also try to change the cmd from port 12000 to something else.

If you go to the status page in the control RRC you may see what fails. But probably you loosing internet connection. The RED LED will light up after about 5 secs. And if the the connection is not back within 60 secs you have to manually connect again by pressing the on/off button as you have found out

Hi

If it's hit by a lightning it's not worth repairing it. Specially if the CPU and PHY is Hot. Send me a email and will give you a fair price for a replacement pcb.

if you only want to control a Prosistel there is no difference in function today, but the webswitch need the extra TTL/RS-232 adapter which is built in in the RC-1216H.

if you can connect sometimes but not always you have probably some problem with your network, for example something else with the same ip adress. Try with fixed IPs in both pc and RRC and a direct cable to verify.

Ok. There is a high risk that the plastic between the pins are melted so there will be a shortcut between the pins, Of course the units are not permanently damaged, it's possible to replace the sockets. But as you have a tight schedule you need to find out if there is a problem and if you can solve it some way. With good light and an magnifier you may be able to check if there is a problem. The sockets have a mechanical solution to connect to the wire or or a IC- pin as they are normally used for.  I can not see any other reason for your problem, there is no way the settings could be set in a way that the connection will end after a while.

Is the manual so bad ? I have never heard anybody soldering the straps before, they should just be put into the sockets without doing anything else. The socket do not survive soldering, so that can be the problem. Im afraid I cant help any more if that's the case. The sockets has to be replaced.

Now you really scares me talking about solder iron, What ever you do do not solder inside the boxes.
The 2x RJ45 extender is just for testing purposes. What happens when you get in trouble. Is the connection going down or is it just the display which stops showing anything ? What are the red and yellow LEDS showing ? is there any error indications on the status pages ?

Hi

Now I remember I sent you my cables that I have used for years. And made new ones for my self so you can be sure they works. Are you sure you have set the red jumpers correct. The serial connection  from the TTL connector is also connected to the jumper socket so if a jumper is miss placed it can disturb the communication.

The only thing which can be wrong is the cables to the front panel. Nothing else is involved. You can reduce the backlighter to reduce power consumption. Im not sure how much power the panel needs. I use the TM-D710 my self and it works perfect, it's up for months. I never switch it off I have the Control RRC connected to 20A PS together with other things so I have never reflected over the power consumption. But I have never heard anyone else having problem with the TM-D710.

I hope you solve it
