I have one remote station working using 5 GHz Ubiquiti Bulltets nearly 50 km bridging to
the network (two mountain tops). Works fine!

Hi Dave,

Although technically it should be mono on the TS-480 end, I found that leaving it as a stereo
plug works just fine. However, if you intend to add the FSK cable, then you must change that
to a mono plug.

Guy,

I thought the 1216H only works with the SDA 100 controller, and not with the
older controller? That is why I couldn't buy one for my older SteppIR.

If the remote RRC is connected to the control RRC through a normal WLAN link, then it is within the
same local network, unless you manually placed it in a different subnet. In that case, no internet is
needed. All you do is to address the remote RRC through the local IP address, e.g. 192.168.XX.YY,
and don't use the external IP address or Dynamic DNS address. Then it makes no difference whatsoever
if the internet goes down.

Lee is right, as usual.

There have generally been two types of issues operating from hotel rooms and hotspots:

1) Port 5060 being blocked/used by the router. That is why one should never use port 5060 for
their RRC's. I noticed that Pete had changed that already, so that was not his problem.

2) The WiFi authentication  problem that Lee identified. That has been covered before:

Hope this helps someone else having these types of problems.

No problem, let me know if you need help locating the problem.

Have fun!

That particular error message is usually irrelevant. If you could reach the radio
RRC's web server, this is confirmation that this is not the problem.

That is why I was asking for more specific details as to what the issue was with
the connection. Drop me a mail to let me know when power is turned on and I
will see if the problem is on the radio side. Then at least we can determine which
side the connection issue is on.

Hi Peter,

I do not understand what your problem is from your description, so I assume I am not the
only one. Is it on the control side, or the radio side? Have you successfully used it outside
the radio's network before?

I just used your data to try a connect, but it didn't work. It could be that your radio RRC is
turned off, or that the IP address did not update properly. You should not place this detailed
information on the forum, so I suggest that you delete it. I can help you more if you e-mail
me directly at dj0qn (at) darc.de, otherwise the guys in Sweden can help.

Hi Jim,

You can power down the K3 using software CAT with no problem, also using HRD. I think
it is on the menu on the top left.

However, you can not turn it on again without a relay connection to the K3 as per the
directions in the manual.

Jim,

You didn't say what kind of rig you were using.

Either way, I have a separate checklist to walk you through using CAT for the TS-480. It
should be generic enough for most rigs, though. Just drop me a mail at dj0qn (at) darc.de
and I will send it to you.

Hi Lee,

Thanks for the photos, it was great meeting you this year and I wish you lots of luck with
the K3 Twin in the future.

Hi Per,

That is indeed strange. I could take a look at your router if you want, but if it
works, I wouldn't worry about it too much  ;)

Actually, port 8080 was not a good decision....it is used by many routers for remote admin.

I understood you that the system was working ok, just that you couldn't reach the RRC's web
admin page. I read down enough to notice the double-NAT problem before that Lee mentioned.
Assuming the system is otherwise not working, then you do need to pass through the
other DHCP server as Lee mentions.

Just a guess: you probably left the radio RRC's configuration page at port 80. This would likely
conflict with your router and maybe another device in your network. Change your web port
and try it again, this time xxxxxxxx.ddns.remoterig.com:XXXX, where XXXX is the new port.

I also highly suggest that you change SIP from port 5060 to something else. This port is
blocked by many routers for VoIP use.

Hi Per,

Yes, you must always forward at least the SIP port and the two other UDP ports (11000 & 12000) in your router
to make it work. However, I highly suggest that you change your SIP port from 5060 to something else. Many routers
block this port for VoIP and it won't pass correctly. Even if it works from the home router, it may not work from the
remote location.
