Fred,

To answer your other question about controlling a rotator and amp; yes, you could use a PC at the station controlled by something like VNC or Teamviewer.

If you do not wish to run a PC at the radio location, you can forward the serial ports over the internet. There are essentially three ways to do this:

1) Use the two serial port servers built into the RemoteRig RRC's. With normal operation, COM2 is usually used to carry the CAT signal, so COM1 is available for control of other devices. If running one of the Twin configurations, COM2 is used to connect the two RRC's already, so to have local CAT one must use a special mode on the control RRC that brings this CAT signal to COM1 as well. In that case, both serial ports are already used by the RRC's and are unavailable for other devices.

2) You can use a standard serial port server, such as one from Lantronix or other companies. These allow you to install a virtual serial port on your control location's PC and use these serial ports for your software as if they are local.

3) If you have a supported device, RemoteRig offers a separate device that allows web-based control over the internet. See http://www.remoterig.com/wp/?page_id=636 for further details. Note that the RemoteRig guys plan to add a virtual serial port to these devices in the future to allow use of serial control software on the PC in the control location.

Now I remember, Guy. That was a lomg time back. Why don't you post a link to your solution as well?

Joe,

I am not sure what you are looking for. Please look at the most current manual, pages 78-83.

Hi Yuri,

I sent you a mail with a checklist to help you out. Let me know if you need any more help.

Your plea for help was otherwise too broad to give you anything specific over the forum.

Thanks for fixed the mails. I have been using RSS in parallel, but it is also buggy. It often will show a bunch of
old posts as new ones. It may be a compatibility issue with my RSS reader, since it is pretty fickle.

Hi Guys,

I am just catching-up on the reflector. For some reason, I no longer get e-mails to tell me about new postings.

Thanks for verifying that I was not crazy the whole time. I don't get to the remote station very often, so I changed
the "codec inp gain" to 13 and will see if that works better. Since I have a new project that keeps me out of my home
office most of the time, I will try it out this evening or tomorrow evening.

There was actually a project to do this, developed by KB9BPF. He has the instructions,
PCB layout, etc. on his Yahoo Group at:
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/remoterig/files/TS480%20Control%20Head%20RS232%20Ifc/

It is a bit complex for my needs, but some may prefer that approach to Mike's relay approach.

I prefer to tell people to change the SIP port, rather than disabling SIP in the router. There are a couple
of reasons for that:

- Some routers (like Fritz!Box) doesn't allow you to disable SIP
- Even if you disable SIP in your router, you may be remotely operating from a location where SIP on port
5060 is being used and you have no way to control that.
- Some 3G providers block port 5060

Of course, you still need to disable SIG ALG if you have access to the router.

Yes, I have the same problem, also plugged into the headphone jack on the front of the FT-2000.

I have reported this problem before: http://www.remoterig.com/forum/index.php?topic=958.msg3899#msg3899

It makes no difference how JMP4 is set.

I think Ken is confused on the role of these serial ports....they have nothing (ZERO) to do with the RRC's
connecting to each other. His problem is probably related to general settings/network issues.

Ken, if you drop me a mail to dj0qn (at) darc.de I will send you a simple checklist to help you out.

Mark,

You can hook-up any external memory keyer as-is and use its memories.

See the manual pages 76-77.

I mean import/export for the PC Client itself, similar to the way the RRC does it (.bin).

I find myself often reentering the profiles manually, plus sending users screen shots. This
would make things much easier.

That sounds great, Roland! I can finally try to use it with TRX-Manager again.

One enhancement I can suggest for an update: the ability to export and import profiles.
