I'd like to see a new box with 4 com ports and a  few extra I/O ports (2bit would be fine). And a profile set (one buttom to go to another radio type setting)

I have had similar busy tones on ts480 combo with last software release.

My UBOX4100 (Lantronix) just got in. I already succeded in remote controlling the microham USB III interface.
It offers rig control, ptt,cw,fsk. A nice addition to the RRC1288. I even managed to get the PMSDR running over the usb-ethernet server. Next is to test usb-serial adapters on the box :D

A weird one: If the expert is ON (back power switch and frontpanel switch also, communication is perfect.
When I swich expert off, I'm unable to switch it back on using the software. Just as if there is significant delay somewhere and soft quits.
Any thoughts?

Guess i'm lucky to have a broadband cable network with 30Mbps :-); so bandwidth is no issue.
I ordered my Lantronix in Germany last week, (still not received). The specs of the unit indicate that for
the kind of traffic there won't be a 12mbps stream needed.

Wonder if there will be a remoterig product with a USB port someday? easier to put a hub and usb-serial connector at the station side and get more com ports.

For those looking to have some extra ethernet managed com ports,
I need some extra COM and USB ports remotely handled:

- radio (serial)
- amp (serial)
- rotator 1 (serial)
- rotator 2 (serial)
- monstir (steppir) (serial)
- USB camera (usb)

I've found sofar:

Opengear CM4001-EU (2serials)
Lantronix Ubox 2100 2 port USB Device Server
silex SX1000 U USB Device Server
Advantech EKI-1522-AE 2 port RS-232/422/485
Advantech EKI-1524-AE, 4-port RS-232/422/485
OpenGear SD4002 Secure Dev Serv2port (RS232+232/422/485)
Moxa Nport 5210 2port RS232 Serial Device Server w/RJ45 Ports
Moxa Nport 5410 4port RS232 Serial Device Server w/DB9M Ports

Not all servers will work under xp/vista so you have to check.

I'd like to get feedback of people running one of the above.

I ordered Lantronix Ubox 4100 4 port USB Device Server

found
lantronix Ubox-2100 and Ubox4100 (XP only)
VSCOm  NetUSB 400i  http://www.vscom.de/413.htm#top (xp,vista,W7)

there are two extra I would add:
a USB to ethernet server so that one can add microham usb interface III to do RTTY
(and have full tranceiver control) connected to USB port on pc and the TS480 com port on the other side.

and the regular key connected to the RRC (some of us still use a key on cw  :P

For the real lazy ones get 4 usb ports, so you can add camera, more rotator controller and so on.

OK, I have found a solution to my issues, I opened the kenwood handmike to check the connections.
In the connector where 2 blue wires, very confusing eh?

measured it and:
middle blue wire on pin 4 is the ground (micro gound) , had this one inversed with the other blue wire
Have 100watts rf free now.
Mike schematic for ts480sat is correct
1 up (blue)
2 N.C. (yellow)
3 micro (white)
4 mic gnd (blue, or should i say shielding of the cable)
5 PTT (grey)
6 PTT GND (green)
7 NC
8 DWN (red)

I have following menu setting:
1. Select DSP Transmission Equalizer (Menu 19) = Hb2.
2. Select Transmitter Filter Bandwidth (Menu 20) = 2.4 KHz.
3. Microphone Mic = 70.
4. Select Processor = ON. Processor input = 65, Processor output = 45

General discussion forum / IC7800 CIV on TTL input
« on: 2010-09-08, 11:08:51 »
I'm trying to get the IC7800 as 3th rig to work with RRC. On the remote side I have the CI V via TTL connector but on the other side i have to use com2. Is there an easy way to keep the 2 com's free for rotator and amp and use TTL for the CI V on both ends? What setting should I choose in RRC when putting radio type in?

I'm using a brand new ts-480, even with low power (<10watts) the audio is poor and levels extremely low. I'm not sure if its RFI or another issue. Has anyone similar issues.  When I connect the ts2000 with remote panel it all works OK and audio is really fine.
