Hardware, Cabling, Installations / Wifi interface
« on: 2023-01-10, 13:20:01 »
In a senior moment I misplaced one of my wifi cards on the pinheader.
It did not survive. DC must have gone a wrong way.
The RRC still functions fine on ethernet connection and my second Wifi card (from my other RRC) also works.

In all shops I see wifi cards are not available.

Is this an item that will get back in stock?

General discussion forum / Fanmail : 5 years with Remoterig
« on: 2016-02-24, 11:35:03 »
Hi Remoterig team,

A short fanmail as I realized I have just passed 5 years of use with my Remoterig setup!

Due to strong interference I started remote'ing my equipment in Jan 2011.
First with a IC-703 followed by a IC-R1500, TS-480SAT and now a IC-7100 with 2 client RRCs & front panels. All are equipped with Wifi boards. I even have a spare radio RRC "just in case" or for a future second setup.

I recently added the RRC Nano App to this system, so the IC7100 is always accessible from phone or tablet.

The RRC boxes have become the core of my remote setup. It is the only device that is always powered and with the IO ports I switch power to antenna switches and a remote PC/SDR receiving setup. The RRC has a nice low current consumption and just refuses to go offline ;-)

With some occasional small trouble (never caused by the RRC system itself but its surrounding IT) it has proven to be ultra reliable and above all ultra enjoyable! I have always been amazed by Remoterigs "real time" feel. As if the system isn't there and you're just using the radio.

All in all it has been a superb solution to escape from the ever increasing urban QRM levels.
It virtually gave me back this hobby.

Therefore; Thanks to all people involved in making Remoterig possible.
On to the next 5 years.

I noticed the RRC nano has been updated.
A strange (and disturbing) problem occurs:

Every time I start the app, my phone's volume is set to maximum, and the app's own volume control is not functioning.

This means I wake up the house with maximum volume every time I start the RRC Nano :-(

In the version before this update volume behaved normal.

Hi,

Has anyone ever attempted a IC7100 firmware update through the Remoterig connection?
I have USB connected via CT17 to my Radio RRC.

Possible or thrill seeking? ;-)

General / tuning accuracy
« on: 2015-08-23, 14:20:13 »
Hello,

Am I the only one or is the Nano tuning wheel still a bit inaccurate?

Am using the IC7100 / RRC / CT17 setup and tuning seems to hesitate between going up or down.
It is quite difficult to get to the right frequency.

Btw: will tuning above 56MHz become possible with the IC7100?

Configuration, RRC 1258 / RRC remote FW update flashing
« on: 2015-08-08, 11:49:12 »
Hi,

Doing the 2.86 update on 3 of my RRCs via the webbrowser I noticed that the browser feedback ("loading fw, now flashing" etc) was absent.

I did several attempts to update the units, they seemed not to respond, but they did go offline.
It was unclear what they were doing.

Update eventually was succesfull, checking the info page of the webbrowser.

General / app licensing
« on: 2015-08-08, 10:24:04 »
Hi,

I'm pretty new to the world of apps.

Does Nano need a separate licence for each android device?

I have a strange problem which Im trying to tackle & understand.

Lately my two control RRCs have started to reboot every few hours or so.
I suspect a problem in the (old) router.

They seem to loose Wifi connection every once in a while.
But why do they reboot? Shouldn't they simply reconnect?
It takes quite some time before the connection is re-established.

A.f.a.i.c.s there's no ping watchdog in the Control RRC forcing a reboot.
Their uptime count is never more than a few hours, while my Radio RRC shows weeks or months..

Both are on v2.85

General / IC-7100 hardware needed on server side
« on: 2015-03-24, 12:08:12 »
Hi,

I fell into the same trap, trying one of the "pirate CT17 emulation cables"
These do not seem to work between RRC and IC-7100 in now see.

So: The only way to run Nano/IC7100 is with a RRC and Icom CT-17 on the server side?

Are there any more things to pay attention to? Does the CT-17 need any programming?
Are there other aftermarket alternatives to the CT-17 that will work?

Hi,

To cover some more distance I decided to use a Netgear WN2000RPT wifi extender.
I plugged the RRC into one of the ethernet ports of this extender.
The extender is connected via wifi to my ADSL router.

The RRC is fully visible within the LAN but I cannot get it to connect to the internet.
The router sees the RRC IP adress in the ARP table. It also sees the extender's IP adress.

I tried both putting the extender and RRC under DMZ, but no internet.
I tried seperate portforwarding for the extender and RRC IP adresses, no luck either.

Am I missing something in this configuration?
If I use my other (wifi) RRC without extender in between there is no problem whatsoever.
Could it be the WN2000RPT Range Extender is blocking port forwarding somehow...(?)

Configuration, RRC 1258 / Extern IP/Host missing?
« on: 2014-11-14, 18:09:31 »
Hi,

I just received a new RRC radio server with fw2.80 and upgraded to fw2.81

I noticed "Extern IP/Host" is missing in the IP settings, but it is still listed in the status page.

How is fixed IP managed now?
I'm behind a fixed IP.

Hi,

While travelling I have carried my RRC and TS-480/IC-7100 control head several times to different locations.
The RRC and head form a nice compact travelling kit, however....

A laptop&PSU always has to come along **only to adjust the RRC network settings** on location!
There is nothing else I use the good old laptop for anymore ;-)

Would it be possible to just edit the Wlan/password/IP settings from an android device or even via direct wifi?
If only the Wlan access settings could be done via Android, all other settings would be available via the webbrowser anyway.

Would save a few kg on hand luggage.
