I have a strange problem which Im trying to tackle & understand.

Lately my two control RRCs have started to reboot every few hours or so.
I suspect a problem in the (old) router.

They seem to loose Wifi connection every once in a while.
But why do they reboot? Shouldn't they simply reconnect?
It takes quite some time before the connection is re-established.

A.f.a.i.c.s there's no ping watchdog in the Control RRC forcing a reboot.
Their uptime count is never more than a few hours, while my Radio RRC shows weeks or months..

Both are on v2.85

General / IC-7100 hardware needed on server side
« on: 2015-03-24, 12:08:12 »
Hi,

I fell into the same trap, trying one of the "pirate CT17 emulation cables"
These do not seem to work between RRC and IC-7100 in now see.

So: The only way to run Nano/IC7100 is with a RRC and Icom CT-17 on the server side?

Are there any more things to pay attention to? Does the CT-17 need any programming?
Are there other aftermarket alternatives to the CT-17 that will work?

Mark,

When the fence is off and the 7100 is on, just place a waterproof speaker on the field connected to your rig.

You can directly talk to the cattle and they'll stay around listening to your QSOs ;-)

FM is almost immune to pulse interference.
That's a reason why the mode was widely adopted after the AM era.

Switch to AM on the same frequency, turn the NB off,and you will hear the pulse.

I occasionaly have a fence here, ranging far into VHF on rainy days.

An electric cattle fence nearby?
They can cause strong pulses from LW to VHF.

The IC7100 AGC is extremely sensitive to such spikes.
I always leave the NB switched on at a low level.

Most electric fence problems are caused by sparking of bad connections or (wet) vegetation shorting to ground.

Configuration, RRC 1258 / Re: Extern IP/Host missing?

Mm, I think you're right.

Upgraded back from 2.78 to 2.81 and all remains normal.

Murphy crept into the IP numbers and port fowarding again.

tnx

Hi, It has never been used, you do not need to set it up.  It just shows the public IP as info.

FYI.

I could not reach my new v2.81 RRC over the internet.

Downgraded the RRC firmware back from 2.81 to 2.78.
Entered my fixed IP in "Extern IP/Host" under IP settings, and it was online again.
(did not change anything in router, etc)

I still don't seem to understand how fixed IP is implemented in fw2.81...

Seems I was looking for a needle in a haystack.
Router and extender were fine.

I downgraded the RRC firmware back from 2.81 to 2.78.
I entered my fixed IP in "Extern IP/Host" under IP settings.
That was the trick.

I still don't seem to understand how fixed IP is implemented in fw2.81...

Hi,

To cover some more distance I decided to use a Netgear WN2000RPT wifi extender.
I plugged the RRC into one of the ethernet ports of this extender.
The extender is connected via wifi to my ADSL router.

The RRC is fully visible within the LAN but I cannot get it to connect to the internet.
The router sees the RRC IP adress in the ARP table. It also sees the extender's IP adress.

I tried both putting the extender and RRC under DMZ, but no internet.
I tried seperate portforwarding for the extender and RRC IP adresses, no luck either.

Am I missing something in this configuration?
If I use my other (wifi) RRC without extender in between there is no problem whatsoever.
Could it be the WN2000RPT Range Extender is blocking port forwarding somehow...(?)

Hi,

I just received a new RRC radio server with fw2.80 and upgraded to fw2.81

I noticed "Extern IP/Host" is missing in the IP settings, but it is still listed in the status page.

How is fixed IP managed now?
I'm behind a fixed IP.
