thanks Alf,

then the pins are correct for the microphone. The PTT goes via CAT and works.

Is it necessary to have the transformer? I was using pin 3 and 4 but with a cable between the hedphones out of the PC and the AUX/MIC RJ45 of the remotering.

When WSJT-X is  switching to TX, I do have the audio at the headset  PC socket. But connecting the cable to the remotering produces no modulation at all

hi,

getting very confused here.

I have opened the MIC and it is wired as ON4IQ wrote. The white cable is on pin 3 and comes directly from the mic capsule. I assumed that the mic ground is the blue one, on position four.

But the guy from Kenwood says something different. According to him pin 3 is the common ground.

Can anyone put me on the right track??

This is frustrating, the very last thing missing in order to complete the installation, which should be straightforward is driving me crazy...

hi,

I have everything working to the point that WSJT-X get the audio from the radio and show the traffic. Also the PTT works fine, turning the radio to TX when needed.

Now I have to bring the audio from the PC to the RJ45 AUX/MIC of the remoterig.

Taken apart a network cable and according to ts-480 mircophone pinout, I should use the contacts 5 and 6, which should be the white/blue and green.

Connected these two contact to a mono jack. White/Blue to the ground pin and green to the tip one.

As soon as I insert the jack into the PC headphone socket,  the TS-480 goes to TX.

VOX is off.

No doubt I am doing something wrong... What?????

The microphone works fine, so it shouldn't be a jumper related problem

thanks again Mitch,

one step after the other I am getting there... Now I have added the manual keyer and it works fine.

Question:

you say "standard" serial cable.

Is it a x1 straight cable, which brings each wire to the same place of the other side or the one which inverts some pairs, also called "null modem"?

thanks for your answer Mitch,

1.
what do you mean by "standard" serial cable?

will this work? https://www.steg-electronics.ch/de/article/Roline-RS232-9-9pol.-Link-Kabel-grau-1.8m-18726512.aspx

or this one?  https://www.steg-electronics.ch/de/article/Assmann-Serielles-Anschlusskabel-D-Sub-9-F-F-2.0m-20027189.aspx

2.
will I be able to use the digital modes of the HRD package? How does it get the audio signals?

Same for other software for other digi modes.

I see pictures -SM2OTU on qrz.com- of people using signal link interface. Do we need that in order no transfer AF signals?

thanks Mitch,

it works like a charm!

Appreciated your patience

hi,

have the radio working fine in remote and would like to get to the next step, adding HRD functionality.

I have seen in some messages people referring to drawings about the connection of the TS-480 but did not find them.

Any hint?

Thanks

hi,

I am sure it has been explained more than once on this forum, but I was not able to find with the search...

problem solved... Faulty cable between remoterig and key input of the radio

thanks for the hint.

I have reset both units and started all over again.

Now everything seems to work.... except the CW.

The remoterig keyer works fine, I hear the monitor on the Control... but the radio is not switching to TX.

The radio itself works fine, if I connect the front panel to it directly it switches to TX without any problem. So it must be something with the remoterig.

hi.

trying to set up the units to work with a TS-480.

I have followed the step by step instruction, keeping everything wired to the local router.

I am able to reach both devices with the web interface, configure them and save. Everything ok, included the registration with the remoterig DDNS server.

But then it just do not work, the radio do not switch on.

One strange thing happens:

even though I can reach it with the web interface, the radio device cannot be found by ping. It always goes to timeout.

The control device respond to ping.

I have verified with the internet provider and udp port are unfiltered.

I have also tried to set up the wifi -I have it on the control side only- and use the 4G network on this side, but no success.

Any clue for the troubleshooting?

Thanks in advance for any help
Ferdinando

Configuration, RRC 1258 / using straight key o semiautomatic
« on: 2019-03-28, 21:59:07 »
hello,

new on the forum, I have tried with the search but could not find the answer. Sorry if the topic exist already.

I am awaiting the remoterig hardware for remotely connecting a TS-480.

I am using two kind of keyers:  bug -semiautomatic- and a single paddle keyer with its internal electronics. Therefore I am feeding the radio as a straight key, not using its keyer.

Will it be possible to use that in remote without passing through any PC but feeding the straight keying to the remoterig?

Thanks in advance for any help
Ferdinando
