General / Got a new smartphone today.
« on: 2015-12-23, 23:03:36 »
Hello,

I purchased a new Andriod smartphone today and loaded the Kenwood and Elecraft Nano Apps.  The Kenwood is working fine, but how do I transfer the license to the new phone?  Can I keep the app on both my tablet and phone?

I decided to pick up an inexpensive mike off of eBay for my RRC control unit.  It turns out that the eBay mike uses an electret mike element.  The electret mike evidently works when connected directly to the TS-480SAT, but not when connected to the Control RRC.  I wired the 8 volt lead in the Control unit to pin #2 of the mike connector and put JMP1 on, but it still does not work.

Am I missing something, or is it not possible to use this mike on the RRC Control unit for the TS-480?

General / Cannot 1.3.1 on Nextbook NX700QC
« on: 2015-09-07, 17:40:39 »
I had Nano working fine until the 1.3.0 update.  I removed the E, K, and S apps and tried to reload RCC-NANO K.  Google Store still reports that K is Installed on my device.  I tried to install anyway and received "No carrier Digiin NX700QC" message.  See the attached screen photos.

I don't know where to go from here.  Everything (E,K and S) shows to be removed but Google Store says it is still installed.

Hello to All,

I have two remote stations that I would like to access from the same RRC-Control unit, a TS-480SAT and an Icom IC-706MKIIG.  My plan was to set up two profiles and switch between them when I want to change radios.  What I am finding is that I could probably avoid changing jumpers by wiring the AUX/MIC microphone cable differently for the Kenwood TS-480.  My problem is the JMP1 (DC to Mic) and JMP2 (8/9V) jumpers.  It looks like I would have to open the RRC-Control and move these jumpers in order to change from Kenwood to Icom IC-706 configuration.

Is there anyone out there using the RRC-Control box for different brand radios?  If so, have you figured out a way to easily switch between brand radios.

Thanks, Joe, K1ike

I'm trying to remote an Elecraft W-2 wattmeter that has an RS232 interface.  The DB9 connector has RTS/CTS looped toward what would normally be the computer.  I am trying to extend this connection using the virtual port driver to a distant computer.  It appears that the software on the computer wants to see a loop on RTS/CTS to provide flow control. (not sure of this yet).

I wonder if the Microbit Virtual Port Driver supports RTS and CTS?

I have a WiFi guest network available to me at my RemoteRig radio site.  I do not have the ability to get port forwarding set on the guest network router.  Someone thought that I could set up a VPN tunnel from the radio site to the control head location.

Has anybody done this to get around the port forwarding requirements?

General / Frequency Readout Problems
« on: 2015-04-10, 17:18:20 »
I'm using a Nextbook NX7000C tablet and the latest version Kenwood Nano software.  I am finding the frequency control problematic and erratic.  This morning, I can connect to the TS-480SAT remote station and see the last frequency that I left the station on.  Turning the dial does nothing.  Entering the frequency manually does change the frequency of the radio (I can hear the difference in the received signal) but the frequency readout does not update.  The frequency readout stays at the same frequency all the time.  There are times in the past when it worked correctly.

Any ideas what is wrong?

What improvements are in this release?  Do I need to just update the Kenwood App?

Thanks, Joe

General / Tuning knob not changing frequency
« on: 2015-02-12, 01:18:53 »
The tuning knob worked briefly, then stopped working.  The display changes, but the radio stays on the same frequency.  The BAND change, Volume, S meter, etc are working, so it looks like the CAT connection is working.  Also, entering the frequency manually changes the readout on the app, but the radio does not tune to the new frequency.

This is happening on two separate stations, Elecraft and Kenwood.  RRC1258 units were all upgraded to version 2.84 software.  I'm using a Nextbook 7 tablet with Andriod 4.4.2 KitKat.  I can supply connect info if someone from Remoterig or Microbit want to try and connect.  The Nano App is version1.1.0

Configuration, RRC 1258 / CAT Checklist
« on: 2015-01-25, 16:19:13 »
I understand that there is a CAT checklist available.  I'd like to get a copy of it, if possible, to configure my IC-706MKIIG for either RRC-Micro or RRC-Nano operation.

I would also like to have access to one of the RS-232 ports at the Radio end to connect a computer to.  I did this with a TS-480SAT remote in the past, but that radio was not CAT.

General / Any problem using the RRC-Nano and WiFi?
« on: 2015-01-23, 15:53:34 »
Can a Smartphone be used that does not have an active subscription to a cell carrier?  I have access to an older one and wanted to use it to play with RRC-Nano, but don't want to activate cell service.  I wanted to use it only on my WiFi.

Do you see any problem doing it this way?

I've set up our 2nd RemoteRig station this week using the RRC-1258MkIIs and an Icom IC-706MK2G.  Everything is working well, except for one problem.  If we leave the system on for several hours with no interaction with the control head, the control head disconnects and will not reconnect to the radio unit.  The radio unit has to be power cycled in order to get the system working again.

Any ideas?

General discussion / Pumping Audio
« on: 2014-07-07, 00:37:12 »
I had the MicroPC working, but now I have a problem with pumping audio.  I changed the packet size to 40, but it still happens.  I am using this over my local LAN.

Any ideas?

General discussion / Noise at the beginning of transmission
« on: 2014-04-22, 01:41:28 »
When I first press the PTT there is noise on the RF transmitted signal.  Once a word is spoken, the noise goes away and does not return until the next PTT transmission.

TS480SAT
RRC-1258MkIIs
RRC-Micro  PC-Client 1.6.12

Any ideas?
