General / Common issues with modern smartphones
« Last post by ik4vfd on 2025-10-25, 09:06:53 »

Hello

Since I switched to a new phone running Android 16, I’ve been unable to use my ICOM 7100. The problem seems to be that in the newer Android versions there’s no longer an option to disable HD calls (VoLTE), which prevents the app from working properly — I’m quite desperate about this.

Additionally, on the new Android system, the top red bar (with the forward/back arrows between Frequency, Connect, and Configuration) has become much narrower, making it very difficult to use.

It’s worth noting that with an older Samsung phone from 2019, where VoLTE can be disabled, the app still works perfectly.

General discussion forum / Re: Mac version of Microbit Setup Manager

Hello,

Typing this from a mac, I find that I don't need the Setup Manager (and I don't think it exists for Mac but I am not to answer that one).

Per page 19 of the manual:

Quote
RESET
A short press on the reset switch will reboot the unit. By pressing and keep the button pressed for 20 sec the unit reset to factory default settings with the following network settings:
Control-RRC IP-address: 192.168.0.227
Radio-RRC IP-address: 192.168.0.228
Netmask: 255.255.255.0

So, set the IP address of the MAC to something like 192.168.0.10, reset the RRC, and depending on whether you have a control or a radio rrc, surf to 192.168.0.227 or 192.168.0.228. You will find the web interface there, you can change the IP address, change the setting to DHCP if you prefer, and once you commit the change, the box will have switched to whatever setting you have set it to.
Personally, I have never bothered with USB cables - too much work!

It does make sense to put a sticker on the bottom of the box with the MAC address and the default IP address (depends on control / radio RRC) so you can "find" it with wireshark or similar tools.

Is there a Mac version of Microbit Setup Manager to use for the RRC-1258? We have a new user with a Mac and need to set up his ip address in the RRC unit.  Please send me a link if it exists.
