DXSR8 + RRC-1258 MkIIs (HW Rel. 7)
« on: 2012-07-19, 00:49:51 »
Who else uses an Alinco DXSR8 with RRC-1258 MkIIs (HW rel. 7)?
In my opinion, there are a number of problems with this combination.

Please refer to my related forum posts:

Can anyone confirm this or give me please the necessary hints?

Im not sure what questions you wait answers to. ?

The company is closed for vacation so nobody is in just now. So it may take some times to get answers. We can only answers questions which is related to the Remoterig not Alinco specific questions. I only know a few other users of ALINCO thats probably why you do not get answers from other users, which is the main idea with the forum. The ALINCO is a very simple and cheap radio and we can't expect the performance to be comparable to a more expensive radio. By the way the radio which is most used together with Remoterig is the TS-480, probably >2000 users.

If you would follow my above mentioned links and also take note of my last question in this thread, you will see, which unresolved problems/questions I have in conjunction with  the alinco dxsr8, which is officially mentioned as an example of supported rigs at your own website!
Therefore, I can not understand why you argue now that it's due to the "cheap" and "simple" radio!?
 >:(

But I do not want to disturb you in your well-deserved vacation. I will wait patiently for an answer.

Hello,

I suggest you get a Kenwood TS-480, and rid yourself of that radio. Apparently very few have that radio and have your same issues. Otherwise you would get answers, but you're getting none ;). Remember, this is a forum of users helping users.

Hello kp4tr,

first of all: many thanks for your reply!

I know very well that the TS-480 is far better radio, but due to the fact that the DX-SR8 was listed among the examples of supported rigs, I have invested in it!

... Otherwise you would get answers, but you're getting none ;). ...

I do not understand what is meant.

Why do you emphasize that?
I know the intention of this forum, so I've asked for help here.

About PSK 31, As for all other rigs there is no dedicated support for PSK-31 in the Remoterig. You just connect the audio signals between the PSK modem and the RRC. Probably you need to activate "Continous RTP Tx" in the Control RRC and the VOX function in the radio depending on how you have done the connections. I know that there are lot of people doing PSK, Myself I do RTTY.

My comments about the use of Alinco was my thoughts about why you do not get answers from other users.

Hi mike (sm2o),

many thanks for all of your currently posted replies (including the replies in my other forum-threads)!

Meanwhile I play with the idea, to buy the recommended Kenwood TS-480 and get rid of the Alinco DX-SR8.

Actually it is well known:
"Anyone who buys cheap, buys twice."

I just hope, that that equipment really does everything better!

The Alinco radio can find a good place at the home of someone who doesn't use a remoterig. The Kenwood TS-480S as well as TS-2000 are both the perfect radios for Remoterig. I use both and am very happy with it. The Kenwood TM-D700 also works great, but is not HF rig.
