RRC-Micro and yaesu 857d
« on: 2013-03-27, 02:03:21 »
I am having trouble getting my yaesu 857d to work remotely using the RRC-Micro pc.  I am using the RRC-1258pair to control my 857d over my home network and running the COM0 with the #15 setting that is specific to my Yaesu ,and it seems to work fine. This optionof #15 does not show up on the RRC-Micro pc.  When I change the settings on the RRC-1258mkii radio and control to use the #3( yaesu 8X7,Ft-1000x) the rig just pulses on and off!  This is the only setting I can find on the RRC- Micro that is available. When i try this setting on the Micro-pc and the radio end  rrc-1258 mkii it doesn't work either.  I am stumped! Will the RRC-Micro pc not work with the Yaesu 857-d? HELP1  Chet AA8CC

Hi, The key question is, can the FT-857 be used without the controlhead connected ?. I have not tested that. If you connect the pc direct to the 857-CAT interface without any RRCs involved, can you start, and control the radio from HRD ?

I think the problem is that the # 15 option is not available on the Micro. Can you tell me why there is a specific #15 for the 857 radio on the RRC-1258 boxes, because #3 will not work with my 857d. I have not tried the rig operation with the face attached yet. it is at a remote site. If I need to i will test it when I get to the remote site.  Thanks Chet AA8CC

Mode 15 only works for FT-857 with the front panel separated. it supports the special protocol between the frontpanel and the radio body, which is not the CAT protocol.

To use RRC Micro you should use mode 3 and you need to connect a Yaesu CT-62 between the Radio-RRC com2  and the Radio CAT port or make the special cable  to connect from TTL-port the radio CAT port which is described in the manual, int the FT-8x7, FT-1000 chapter.

Thanks, I wonder if I can still use the 1258 control box when all is hooked up to use the Micro? Chet
