ICOM-7600 & HRD

I'm seriously considering using RemoteRig as a means to control my ICOM IC-7600 station using HRD on a remote (laptop) computer.

Is this practical? Is there a better way? The more I research this, the more confused I get in this regard.

Comments/advice please.
