Easy Rotator Control
« on: 2010-07-11, 18:07:30 »
Hi!

This post just to inform how to connect the ERC on the COM2

- The Expert 1k use the configuration written on the "Power Amp/rotators" section. It use the COM1

- The ERC (rotator control with yaesu G1000 DXC) use this configuration (COM2):

mode                        3 - char timeout
COM2 baudrate             4800
COM2 data bits              8
COM2 stop bits              1
COM2 parity              0-off
COM2 terminator (hex)   0d

ERC-cable at the radio site, straight cable at the control site (thsk HB9AZT)

I hope that this post can help.

P.S the ERC interface is very good, the support is fantastic! thks Rene

Hi

I do not understand what the problem is ?

TS-480 OK via COM0, expert OK via COM1 , rotor OK via COM2.

I don't think the life can be much better.

Hi Mike!

absolutely no problem! All is working fine.

My post was just an information for the connection with the ERC (Easy Rotator Control) and the remoterig via COM2.

I change the thread.

Happy to find your post. Just received my ERC-kit, and hope to have it assembled soon...

Just one question; at the radio site you say you use the ERC-cable. But the d-sub of ERC is female, and so is the d-sub of RRC? Do you use a null modem male-male adapter? Or a straight male-male adapter?

Of course you could just change the d-sub of ERC-cable to a male one (with same pins connected?), but in this case I would need a female-female adapter every time I connect my computer at the radio QTH  ::)

Hi!

On the remoterig the com2 is male. The cable used from the ERC and the remoterig is jack to rs232 female.

No adapter.

Thanks again for the configuration info!

I have some odd trouble after installing the ERC at my radiosite today. On location all worked perfect.

But via RRC from home-QTH I donīt get any readings in the ERC Control from the rotor. However in ERC servicetool, when pressing "read", I get the present antenna heading under "status".

Any ideas?

Iīm using the same computer, the same installation as I did on the radio-QTH so it should not be a software issue...

Hi!

strange problem.
ERC is used with which rotator?

Port settings are corrected?

Eventually you can try with other software like hrd rotator.

Using it with Yeasu G-1000DXA. The strange thing is that it worked 100% on location....

Serial settings in RRC exactly according to your post above.

Will mail Rene and see if he can give me a clue.

Finally fixed it, however I needed to use com1 instead, and made a null-modem on the radioside. Rene sent me this link http://easy-rotor-control.dk/html/erc_with_remoterig.html - maybe useful for someone else...

Really canīt see the difference from com2, but most important is that it now works  ;D
