Newbie problem
« on: 2015-01-09, 16:34:43 »
I have a K3 and K3/0 mini I'm just starting to integrate with Remoterig RRCs.  Since I'm not sure what to search for in the archives, I haven't found any help there yet.

I've been through the Elecraft setup including port forwarding of my ISP router (Verizon/FIOS).  When I push POWER on the control K3/0 the remote K3 powers up, but that's all that happens.  The audio on the control K3 sounds like a motorboat.  The VFO-B indicates TERM, but no other function works except POWER (control K3 goes off, but not the remote).  VFO-A works  for 2 seconds before TERM pops up and all controls stop working.

I'm at a loss for where to start debugging.  Any suggestions?

Dick,

Did you first get it working in the radio's network before moving offsite, or is this
problem in that network?

If you drop me a short mail at dj0qn (at) darc.de, I can send you my networking
checklist to help you find your problem.

Thanks, Mitch.
Thanks for the offer of help, Mitch.  I ran through your checklist (with some difficulty due to my noviceness).  I'm seeing the same symptoms: motorboat audio and unable to do anything on the remote unit.  VFO-B shows "TERM" after 2 seconds.

Anyone else have a suggestion?
