How to reset password on K3 Twin 1258 MkII
« on: 2015-05-23, 23:44:55 »
Unable to utilize Setup manager as each selection (other than Info) asks for Username and password.  I had tried setting up the system a month ago and must have set a password but can not remember what it was.  How can I reset?
I tried changing the IP addresses but that did not matter nor did uninstalling and doing a fresh install for Setup manager.

When I click on any button, such as Radio settings, it says:"The server 192.168.1.169 is asking for your username and password. The server reports it is from Remote Rig."

Suggestions (other than better memory or writing it down!)??

If you have connected the RRC via USB to a PC running the Setup Manager program then you should not see any dialogues asking for username/password. That should only happen when you browse to the internal web pages of an RRC which is password locked.

This is from the RRC's User manual:

RESET
A short press on the reset switch will reboot the unit. By pressing and keep the button
pressed for 20 sec the unit reset to factory default settings with the following network
settings:
Control-RRC IP-address: 192.168.0.227
Radio-RRC IP-address: 192.168.0.228
Netmask: 255.255.255.0
Gateway: 192.168.0.1
DNS: 192.168.0.1

Always include type of hard/software and version when asking for support.

Tnx Ian,

I never did find that part in the RRC manual about the reset; however a friend suggested I hold the RES button until it did reset...I had been doing about 5 sec with no changes. In frustration, I held it (actually SMASHED) for 25-30 sec and that worked fine.

Now I dont need username/PW. Now on to other issues....
