Port 80 Security
« on: 2010-09-28, 05:06:13 »
While setting up my remote power switch on port 8080, I wondered about how secure my Remote Rig was on port 80. Unlike my IP power switch which requires an ID and password, Remote Rig easily opens without one from outside my LAN.

I am not an expert here, just feeling my way through this process. Any thoughts from those with more experience.

Thanks & 73

Ken,

You can (should) set an ID and password for the remote RRC.

If someone figures out your IP address and port, the most they
can do is to view your status. As soon as you click on one of the
lower menu items, it asks for your ID and password.

Of course you should change the RRC port from 80 to another port,
just as you did on your power switch
