TS-480 and signalink
« on: 2011-01-05, 12:02:49 »
I'dlike to know if someone has already connected signalink to the TS-480 but directly to the display (RCC-client side) like described for icom 706 (http://www.remoterig.com/en/digital.htm)

Is it a possible setup or it's a must to put the signalink on the radio side?

Configuration?
Impression?

Thks in advance

Yes, I have tried to connect SignaLink to the panel side. It functions, but I am not still satisfied with how I have managed to "trim" the set up. There is a tendency to lock the system in TX when I trig the PTT. (Possibly because I have not succeeded finding the appropriate sound card levels still???)

Jumpers in SignaLink set this way:

SignaLink-side           RJ-45-side (standard pin-numbers; not Kenwood/Yaesu-style)
G --------------------- 6 (GND)
G --------------------- 4 (MIC-GND)
PTT ------------------- 5 (PTT)
MIC ------------------- 3 (MIC)

(J3 in the SignaLink NOT set. I tried that too, but got only trouble with locking in TX-mode all the time.)

Speaker-cable (3,5 stereo-cable) between RemoteRig-box and SPKR on SignaLink.
RJ-45-cable into MIC on RemoteRig-box instead of microphone.
Front panel connected to TTL on RemoteRig-box as usual.

Read the manual for SignaLink very well, and be extremely careful with the adjustment of sound-card properties. At firs I did not care much about that, but then I did not get any results at all.

Best regards

(By the way - Do anyone have a set up to suggest for RRC-Micro PC-client and TS-480 so that the Remote station can be controlled by front panel in the usual way and the RRC-Micro alternatively only by changing profile via Internet??)
(Disregard this last question - I found the error: I forgot to set baudrate 9600 for communicating over the COM-port on the radio!)

Hi Geir!

thks for your post!

I will buy the signalink and share with you my impression.

Now I have to solve another problem. In my configuration I have all the com port used (rotator and amplifier) and I have to choose how to get the CAT connection from the 480. A pc on the remote side? A rs-232 over ip adapter? or....

Do you have any idea?

Sorry, but I have no rotator or amplifier, so I have no quick fix to advise. I use my COM2 for the CAT to the radio (for using RRC-MicroClient). Thus I still have the COM1 free!

Hello,
I'm using the signalink interface on the control side with no problem.
Connections are (in signalink interface) :
6---> Ground
4---> Ground
5---> PTT
3---> MIC
